Just noticed that the range rings that are indeed circles on the scale drawn here appear as ellipses. This distortion comes from the size of the video screen. In actual practice they are round, but something is stretching the video meet a stock scale that is causing this. I will try to be more thoughtful of this issue in the future.

If you calculate the heigth using logeritne tables from your DR then you don’t have 30 or more Miles V and using an electronic chart then its idiot to do the calculation with the tables and I believe you have a celestial module for your program so you can do everything in the program.

Yes we have a program called StarPilot that does all the plotting and solutions for fixes. With that in hand, none of this is needed. Tables that do sight reduction from a DR rather than AP are convenient and more accurate than the AP solution, i agree with that, but they are not very popular. This video exercise was primarily to help someone who was having trouble plotting this particular set of LOPs. It is also to show the varied uses of the electronic plotting tools in a free echart program for such plotting. You can, for example, solve true wind or current vector problems or radar relative motion problems much more quickly and accurately with a closed 3 leg route than we typically can do using a maneuvering board. We have that method in our texts, but not sure we have a video of it.
