Did you know Mysterious (the company behind Plushie Dreadfuls) was founded in 2015 by American McGee and his wife Zhang Yan? They live together with their two kids in Shanghai, China. American (yes, that is his actual name) is an American citizen born in Dallas, Texas. But he's lived in China for 20 years. Zhang Yan is a Chinese citizen born in Zhejiang Province. They've known each other since 2008 and have two kids together (Lucky and Leeloo) plus one doggo (Lulu).
Mysterious is an American company (a Delaware LLC) and pays US taxes. It's also a Chinese company (a Shanghai WFOE). It has employees in Australia, Canada, China, New Zealand, and the Netherlands.
As of this post, the company employs 6 full-time workers + American and Yan for a total of 8 people. We believe this qualifies us as a "small, family-run business" but if you have a different definition, please feel free to share it!
