Not exactly correct. The powertrain is for the Dodge intrepid although I believe it's a bit tweaked. The chassis on the other hand is absolutely unique and was custom designed, it doesn't share anything with any other Chrysler product. Check out "car wizards" KZfaq channel, he had one in the shop up on a lift so you can see underneath of it. Pretty interesting and unique design. Always thought it was unfortunate they threw a V6 in it rather than do something more cool. Although apparently you can throw a supercharger on one and make it pretty damn fast

@@kens97sto171 The chassis was definitely one of their strong points. Unfortunately they had to rob the Chrysler parts bin for most of the drivetrain, and a lot of the interior bits. Not sure if this was a beancounter decision or not. I'd like to think the Chrysler engineers on that project would have come up with something better...

Afternoon Mr O, how the hell do you do it, not only say the word "Aluminium" correctly, but get Mrs O to help just after having her nails manicured, and have a couple of good innuendos chucked in to boot, great Video's, only started watching about 4 weeks ago and have nearly caught up with the back catalogue. Had a good one the other day, old 1998 scissor lift not working, no wiring diagram as they don't exist, and had 12v at source and function button, but no functions, nearly gave up, found a crusty butt connector would show voltage but not pass the currant to actuate a solenoide, cut out rewired, Bob's your Uncle, Fanny's your Aunt, Bish, Bash, Bosh. All working. Only took 4 hours to start at the beginning of wiring loom and go through all 80 feet of it as most of it was in a sealed box section, no plug in diagnostic toys, just the eyeballs and Noggin, You seem to be a genuine nice guy looking at the help you've given to people over the years, nice to know you Mr O. The Prowler made it to production primarily for two reasons: 1. a fun bit of fan service for customers; but mostly 2. a creative exercise for Chrysler's workforce in learning the nuances of automotive construction heavily utilizing aluminium. Aside from some trim pieces most of the things that weren't custom aluminium were pulled from the Chrysler parts bin so most mechanical bits are the same as those in other period vehicles; it's not too hard to keep the basic drivetrain running if you figure out how to cross-reference parts from other models.

Neat car even if you aren't a Mopar fan, the basic design was a good one. They created this thing from their better V6 of the day installed into the front end, a setup with the transaxle and front suspension from a front drive sedan mounted in the rear somewhat like many supercars have been done. It ended up with decent weight distribution and was reliable and could be worked on by any competent mechanic in your town USA. The 3.5L V6 was a decent motor, though by today standards it is obviously anemic at best. That guys mistake was letting gas get very old in the fuel tank which tends to cause problems today, due to govt mandated ethanol blends, which are anything but stable and durable, they are intended for short term use only.

I work at Chrysler dealer and dealt with this same issue last week. The instructions that came with the kit were garbage. I disassembled the housing, where the pump is located, to find out how to remove the upper hat portion. The tube with the spring has to be pushed down to release it and then the hat portion is rotated back. It is hard to visualize but keeps you from having to remove the hat portion the way you did. My problem was that the new fuel level sensor was a piece of crap. The lever was loose and would not stay in contact with the sensor. I had to use the level sensor from the original pump housing. This is always how much fun we have working on old crap. I love your creativity.

@@sergeantspeed5941 Its not a common sense issue. Its actually using common sense on their end. They don't want the cars easy to work on for 2 reasons. One, so you bring it back to a dealer. And two, they don't want people who's tool arsenal is a hot glue gun, slip joint pliers and a tiny little hammer "fixing" their vehicles. Especially with something as potentially dangerous as fuel delivery. You get someone who doesn't know their left from their right pulling a fuel system apart with no common sense or fear, it could result in a life changing injury or possibly death. Fuel leaks and fires in vehicles are no laughing matter. Common sense is not that common and stamping your brand on a product and selling it 25-30 years ago and still is today a HUGE liability. Its not just about making you bring it back to fix it, they have to cover their rearends from every possible scenario because the people that ruined it for everybody... They change the tune in their car, over power it and not only wreck the drive train and related components but they get themselves into more power than they can handle and wreck causing injury and damage, then turn around and sue the brands company. Its a shame really. The ones with zero accountability, common sense or responsibility mess themselves and their stuff up and ruin it for the rest of us...

I respect your wife for getting in there and helping you with that stinky electrical connector, her hands must have stunk for hours afterwards. I'll give Chrysler kudos for having an access hatch over the pump, at least you don't have to drop the tank. My wife's Kia fuel pump gave problems twice. Had the fuel pump replaced once and took a look at the old pump, seemed to be a bad electrical connection on the pump inside the tank. Second time it was the electrical connection outside the tank. Fortunately it has an access hatch and I was able to replace the connector myself. It's been running fine since.
