Moving into this house sooner than we were ready for. A quick and cost effective yet stylish way to make a counter top that works for the time being!
lol. Its supposed to look like this. Some people like the look of swamp wood and some don't. Keep kicking ass with both feet!

Such a gorgeous book - each shed is unique and inspiring, and I love all the tiny details Kotite features to help readers imagine how to create their own She Sheds kzfaq.infoUgkxe9yi0sulKgsp0VJJCIrLWWkvVqcU7LFR . The feature on Dinah's Rustic Retreat is like something from a fairy tale. It's really inspiring to see how creative all these ordinary people are in making beautiful and useful spaces on a modest scale.

I have a friend who threw plywood on his cabinets until they decided on countertops. His wife painted them & used leaves to stencil them. 20 years later, still there.

The person who said this looks "crappy", never mind. I am a 77 year old grandmother. I have always appreciated the unusual and I love this. You are blessed with creativity and artistic ability. You may think this is temporary, bet it's still in place in five years. Good job!

70 yer old grandma here- I agree. Looks great, gives visual interest to a kitchen with plain cabinets. Love the contrast between the wood look and the gray.... I couldn’t imagine what you were thinking of doing with those cutouts at the beginning

Wow Joshua, kitchen looks awesome, a 2 pack epoxy resin clear coat will hold up well to kitchen use including heat. Easy to repair scratches with another filler coat and heat gun will blend in seamlessly. Or using coloured epoxy resin in knot holes, to make unique rivers etc.. Congratulations on your new home may you both have many years of enjoyment in it together. Victoria Australia xo

Wow, that is simply incredible. Who would've thought that you could make plywood look like that? Hmmm, a plywood countertop, eh! I thought it would be just a plain old countertop but decided to watch anyway. Am I ever glad I did. You are so creative and skilled, to-boot! I'm hooked!

Josh that was amazing! Just the idea, never mind the execution of it all. Loved the 'spalling' effect and the burning. Your brain works in a wonderful way. Only worry is the lack of safety stuff you use to protect your eyes, lungs and hands. You are destined for great things but you need your eyes and hands Josh. Please take care.

Totally randomly ran into this. Dude I love where you’re going with this. You took boring plywood and gave it character. You are an artist carpenter I admire that. A lot of tiny house people have to use wood countertops due to weight constraints. All of them use some kind of epoxy to protect it.

Found your channel through Curiosity inc. I’m someone who watches cleaning videos to get motivated to clean my house since I have monsters (kids) ages 5, 3 and 21 months who make constant messes. The potter house showed up on my feed and I thought cleaning up a hoarder house would be interesting to see. I ended up binge watching the series up this 3am some nights. Then I head over to your channel and started watching your videos with my husband and it has motivated him to finish projects around our own house. I really really REALLY love how you did the counter top. So stunning. Would be perfect too for a counter top in a laundry room to fold laundry on.

That's a lot of work, and I imagine the dust cleanups were brutal! After doing cabinets and counters for 3 decades, It's crazy to see the many different ways people are finishing their counters... But, if you like it; I like it...:) When I started it was just Laminate...I was doing that before granite came back in vogue and Corian died...Now, people are going BACK to laminate...There are some amazing laminates now too...Metals, Natural stone, exotic woods, Nevamar stuff is a beast... And the premium stuff is only 5 bucks a square foot...10X's cheaper than granite...
