Brilliant, powerful and precise speech…I think we in India…whether pro or against current dispensation…should neither feel bad or good about the speech…it is his pov and should be taken as such.

It’s top class leadership like this that ensures Singapore’s unique and special place in the world. An unflinching commitment to values and principles by which Singapore is governed. Let up a little and the hole will become larger and larger until the Singapore we know and cherish will no longer exist. Even foreigners who have heard these proceedings are applauding it and saying this is what leadership is.

PM Lee, I like your speech. I am glad that you uphold good and, incorruptible values, such as, upholding good governance and, healthy democracy in politics, based on righteousness and honesty. I am always proud to be born in India, but I am feeling shamed on myself, on my actions, I am voting from 18+ ( almost 17 years) , I voted in the name of different party, (BJP, Congress, AAP). I never looked for background of any Candidate I voted, even I don't know the name the candidate I voted for. I think this is the main reason that today our 50% parliamentarians are under criminal charges.

I'm an Indian. Many Indians are angry with Mr Lee regarding his statements on India. But what he said is completely correct. After Nehru and Shastri, corruption became the norm in Indian politics. No wonder many current politicians either abuse Nehru, or just ignore his ideals. More cheaper Indian people will just avoid the blame by just pointing out Nehru's Indo-China war blunder of 1962, and ignore everything that Nehru consolidated for Indian democracy. Singapore has got worthy leaders.

I don't know if Singaporean politician do as they say but this speech in itself crystalizes what is required to make a perfect democracy and how their politician should behave to achieve this.

It's irony that PM of Singapore praises Jawaharlal Nehru , and attributes the thriving democracy in india , PM of India in his address to his parliament , blames every problems on Nehru . And yes it's a sad that in India, many of the politicians have criminal cases pending on them.
