Probably a compressor regulated to about 70psi. That's a big cylinder. Lots of volume. It probably chews though air.

It’s not a solenoid, it’s an air valve (the system is Pneumatic (air) operated). When the valve is activated air is added behind the ram, when released air is sent to the front of the ram (resetting the action). You’ll need to ensure the “length of travel” of the piston is sufficient to crush cans in your country. You also need to ensure “length of travel” does not exceed the “crushed” size of the can. You’ll also need to ensure the force applied (PSI/Bar) is sufficient to crush the can (although the structure of can can be compromised by applying a force to the side of the can (crushing it slightly). It would easy to apply a side (weakening) force to the can. This makes it a two stage process.

Adam Rouse I used a 2 position, 5 way valve. Not sure if you could get by with a 3 way or not.

PolarisJD , the other two ports are just for mufflers correct? Unless you wanted something else hooked up I believe.

He has a double acting piston. If you use a single acting piston the 3 way will work. The single acting uses a spring to retract the piston.

If your piston has two places to attach an airhose (double acting) get a 5 way. If your piston has one place to attach an airhose (single acting) get a 3 way.

@@PolarisJD -- I was thinking the same thing, some kind of auto feed,, it would not take much if you added another cylinder and made it operate in reverse it would not need to be a strong cylinder as you could use just a flat plate to hold back the reserve cans. BUT,, this is great and like the video, no awful music, just great video..

Well if you had a hopper you can load it then use your free hand to regulate the flow.

Use the orignal cylinder on stroke to push a lever to bump a can out to be crushed.

There is a male nitto fitting screwed into the supply port on the valve so you will need a female nitto coupler to connect to that.
