I can't believe the Holt pneumatic fluid extractor can destroy engines? So im not sure about that and now ill test a different pneumatic manual fluid extractor. Today on Nates interactive auto lets find out if the fluid extractor leaves behind fluid.
For more information on the fluid extractor or where to find it check out the link below.
Fluid extractor
amzn.to/2V4ZWpj
Also check some of the other extractors.
Mityvac fluid evacuator plus pressure vacuum.
what is the best fluid extractor well theres is only one way to find out.
OEM manual fluid extractor is another we need to review. Also the JohnDow pneumatic fluid evacuator. Oil change mistake or even scam that could destroy your engine so check out those videos.

I use one that works off my car battery. On my VW Passat that has over 75k miles and I've owned it since new. Most of the oil changes have been done at home using the extraction pump. My filter is on top so this actually saves me time and money. I find myself changing my oil more often (10k miles recommended), I'm usually changing it every 4k max because it's so easy to do. Highly recommend this method of changing it out!

You forgot to mention that the drain plug sits about a 1/2" above the bottom of the oil pan. This goes all the way down to the bottom and removes everything. WatchJRGo did a video and then put his car on a lift a removed the drain plug and like you nothing came out. He then removed the oil pan and there was maybe an ounce left if that. Great video!!! THANKS!!!!

Granted that your engine is in good condition and you change your oil according to the OEM recommendation. Even if there is a very small amount of old engine oil left in the oil pan, it isn't going to be an issue. There's around half a quart of engine oil left inside the engine that cannot drain out even if you drain it from the drain plug. So even if there is say 300ml of residual oil in the oil pan that could not be extracted from the extractor, that is an extremely small percentage of the total oil capacity.

I used to use one of these on my old Volvo V70. Where I lived at the time, the driveway was pretty steep. I used to have to bother my neighbor to use her section of the driveway where it was flat, which meant asking her to move her car etc. The oil filter was on the bottom, but I could reach it pretty easily without having to jack up the car. The drain plug would have required jacking up the car, so I got an oil extractor instead. It made short work of oil changes, and was much less messy too. Still needed a catch pan for removing the filter, but the amount of oil coming out was much less, so it was easier to deal with. I wouldn't say I saved much time over a regular oil change, but it was much less unpleasant.

no, because all the oil is in circle in the engine, and surently you can't extract all of it, it's better wait 15/20 minutes so all the oil return in the lower part of the motor, if you change your oil and oil filter every 15000 km probabily your engine will live longer of all the rest of the car 😅

I have a an oil pump extractor and what I like to do is extract the dirty oil, then fill it with cheap motor oil, run the engine. Extract the oil again and replace the filter, then fill it with high quality oil like valvoline or mobile1. Sure, I end up spending an extra $15 every oil change but I figure that's worth it for the sake of convenience.

I got a VW GTI with the oil filter on top. I used one of these extractors for the first time and it worked great. Pulled all the oil out. No crawling around on the ground. The GTI has a plastic oil pan anyway, so loosening and tightening a drain plug every oil change doesn't seem like a good idea. You got a filter on top of the engine. It's the way to go.

The advantage of the fluid extractor for me is on my Ford F150 with the plastic drain plug that's on the back of the oil pan and lets oil gush out horizontally is that the extractor gets almost all of the oil out. Then I take out the drain plug to get the last little bit of oil out. No more oil on my new concrete driveway.

I use mine for old gas from cars I buy been sitting around for years. The fluid your pulling doesn't go through a pump, or anywhere seals can get wet by it. Brake fluid is worse because it swells o-rings up if you leave it. The reason they don't want you pulling gas with it is the danger it poses to person operating it gas has explosive fumes. If you dump it let things dry out right after no issues with pulling old gas. Works really well to get entire tank good and dry then I leave the lid off the tank for a few days make sure fumes are one I put an inspection camera down there see if there is rust in the tank. If there is rust then I replace the tank with a new one or if I can't find one I use POR-15. Lot of times no rust the varnish does a good job of keeping rust away I also live in AZ that helps lot also. Worst thing is to suck a tank dry then put new gas in there and bunch of rust gets sucked into the fuel system.

I believe the drain plug will get more oil / slug out better but I can see how this might be a good fit for some. This is a great product for in board boat motors, as they always seem to be very difficult, time consuming, and make a huge mess doing it the normal way. I suggest to make sure oil is warmed up in either method, and adding oil engine flush prior to oil change helps dissolve sludge that might be clinging on inside engine. Just my thoughts.
@tomhalf3018
@tomhalf3018 2 жыл бұрын
Drain plugs are often much higher than where the dipstick sits and you usually end up with 500ml of very old, sludge oil filled with contaminants, if you youtube oil extractor shootout pt 2 a bloke gives a very good example of why using oilextractors do a better job of draining motors and even better job on transmissions, i wouldn't expect someone who hasn't been trained how to use one would get it first go, they can be tricky to use despite them seeming very straight forward. Best advice i ever got for them was to make sure the tube bends away from the engine that way once it hits the bottom you twist it toward the closest wall in engine often locking it beside the dipstick and the engine, holding the tube while its gurgling will help alot too if it doesnt have a magnetic sleeve to hold it in place Once its low on oil and gurgling, the tip of the hose in the engine taps up an down, sometimes you have to move the hose a few times in the stage if its not a hard line but a vinyl tube

Oil extractors that can be hooked up to an air compressor for constant suction work much better than the hand pump ones. MityVac 7300 is another model that uses an air compressor (but does not have any hand pump like the one in this video). Any size air compressor will do. Moving the tube around at the bottom of the drain pan will remove all the oil. However, I would use the drain plug for the first oil change, so that any metal shavings are sure to drain out. But in any case, virtually all metal shavings are trapped in the oil filter.

A few things that oil that you had was not meant for that car so that could be confusing a few people that don't really know much about cars. But anyways, I recently after years got one of these extractors, because 1 of my new Audi's has the filter on the top and it doesn't have a dipstick, you do have to have the engine warm and the oil warm. In order to get these extractors to suck everything out fast, I think it took a total of 10. Maybe fifteen minutes and I never once had to lay on the ground, so it's a winner

The purpose of this is to have a mess free oil change. It takes 1 minute to take off the oil filter and put a new one on, also you dont have to keep replacing crush washers etc or worry about wrecking threads and bolts. Which seems to happen more commonly than not to the average person. Everytime i do an oil change somehow i always seem to get oil on the floor. This is different than a shop with lifts and those drain containers that are adjuatable etc with the mesh screen where it makes 0 mess. Ive used varioua oil pan tran trays and with the initial drain oil somehow always splashes out. Also less time on your back and dont really need a lift to do it as alot of oil filters are accessible from the front underneath.

The best oil filter is a better air filter. If you did this on cvt transmission fluid every 20k, they would go 250k miles no problem. They are tough on fluid as they shear. I would just use a 🦃 💉 turkey baster on power steering fluid. Drain and Fill is the success to oil and transmission longevity.

You really dont have to change the oil filter with every oil change, especially if you do oil changes earlier and more regularly than manufacturers limits.

Not until you get to the oil filter. And worst cleaning the jug, while many do not tell or say. Most of the time you got to get under the car to get the oil filter out.

It did what it was suppose to do. not sure why anyone would not use the DRAIN plug... can be useful for ATF in some cars..

As for oil changes if someone has a top mounted oil filter this would be beneficial.

I agree I would probably never use one of these don’t be lazy when doing maintenance on your vehicle take the extra time and just drain from the plug.

@@Back_door_bandit_98 most drain plugs aren’t at the very bottom of the pan. So some old oil stays in. The extractor sucks nearly everything from the bottom

Sludge sediment builds over time, it would probably take doing this type of oil change for 50k miles, then you would have to take the oil pan off and see what's inside.

I think if you use cheap oil and shorten the service time interval (maybe 5000mile) this is a good way to change the oil.
