Thank you. Very useful information. PT student from Romania here. Missed quite a bit of practical/ internship opportunities due to covid, so it was great to see these techniques performed. Hard to visualize just by theoretical description.

I am just wondering shouldn't the proximal hand also provide resistance? Now it's only the distal hand that I providing the resistance

Thank you for watching and yes, you are correct. Cuing and resistance are applied through both the proximal and distal hands. The amount of resistance may be very light depending on how weak or strong the patient/client is.

We are sorry to hear about your health challenges. Our channel is designed to provide information for physiotherapists in training, not for specific treatment recommendations. If you are in need of treatment we would suggest finding a qualified physiotherapist close to your home. We wish you the best of luck with your recovery.

Thought the pattern was supposed to be dog leg and ballerina leg?

Depending on where you work there can be many names that describe the lower extremity PNF patterns, the key is to make sure you are getting the desired component motions at each joint. Thanks for watching and for supporting our channel.

With PNF the practitioner should be aware of using good body mechanics and then attempt to align themselves in the diagonal pattern that the movement is occurring in. With lower extremities it can be more challenging due to the mass of the leg so there is an emphasis on good body mechanics as displayed in the video.
