The Naga-Legazpi-Naga route of PNR Bicol re-opened last December 27, 2023 and I have to travel there to experience this newly-opened route.
I've been dreaming about this moment since the first time I saw in 2003 the beautiful Art Deco style Legazpi Train Station designed by National Artist for Architecture Pablo S. Antonio.
So, from Manila, I took a Naga-bound bus from PITX. Travel time to Naga by bus took 11 hours. From Naga bus terminal, I took a short tricycle ride to Naga PNR Train Station to catch the 5:38AM Train to Legazpi.
Train fare to Legazpi is P155, and there's a special lane and discount (P124 discounted fare) for seniors.
The Naga-Legazpi route is using the moder INKA trains made in Indonesia. It has full airconditioning, so make sure to bring jackets or sweaters.
There's plenty of nice views along the way, although we missed seeing Mt. Mayon because it was cloudy that day.
We arrived in Legazpi after 3 hours and 35 minutes, and I took the chance to admire the Art Deco building designed by Pablo Antonio, which ignited my fascination 20 years ago to travel by train around the Philippines.

Hi Sir. Correction please. The proper term is LEGAZPI TERMINAL because it is the end point of the PNR LINE. Stations are those points in between 2 terminals or termini. Since the operational line is still just between Naga and Legazpi, then the aother terminal is in Naga. Hope this helps. Thanks!

Hello, I came across your vlog and try watching but I was disappointed because the surrounding litter with houses along the rail trucks and dirty. Comment on your camera handling a bit shaky and please indicate the year and month when the Legaspi station was built. Anyway thanks for showing this ride from Naga to Legaspi and thanks

Wow, thank you for showing this in video. My wife and I would like to travel extensively back packing in the Philippines by public transportation. We have travel all over the world and have seen seen most part of other countries better than our own. Would like to do bus and train as that would be the best way to see the countryside.
