We'd totally be fine with signing no-one, largely keeping the squad as is and only selling a few players to make up for FFP/PSR. However, I do think it would be smart to go for a couple players. Signing Estevao could be huge for us but he'll only arrive in a year so he effectively doesn't count. I think getting an experienced CB to make up for the loss of Silva would be really great, so if we can get Tarkowski or Hummels it would be perfect. Also if we really go through with selling Sterling then a replacement LW as competition for Mudryk would be really nice. Sancho would be fantastic. Other than that I do think we should do anything in terms of signings but of course that's difficult to tell when you don't know who's going out.

Unpopular opinion, if Pochettino deserves time then so do the sporting directors. The players we bought were more for potential than present ability. They won't come good in a single year. Pochettino had experience/talent at PSG and didn't impress too much. He has shown better record with potentials. If we're accepting Conference League then almost none of the signings have been complete absolute flop. If we're talking higher standards then the manager himself hasn't been good enough. But if you notice when teams are building, they tend to concede a lot of goals. Take, Liverpool and Arsenal back in the day, then things settle mostly with a big CB signing like VVD or Saliba coming back from loan. I believe our own will be Fofana. There is something here, I’ve always believed it. We need to hope for a full fit squad. For me it’s important we keep Poch. Even when we weren’t doing so well I wanted him to stay because, of the stability, I wasn’t a fan of our young players getting used to hiring and firing. Said young players love him so why not keep him for them. And I also believe, if this is a project then he needs to be given time. Let’s not forget the things that were said about Arteta and even Klopp in their early days.

I'm so glad Poch is staying. I supported him for most of the season but I did finally crack and thought we need to get rid of him after the draw against Sheffield UTD and then flip flopped after beating Everton and losing to City and Arsenal. But I always knew Poch is right in so many ways for Chelsea. But I felt it don't matter how much a match is made in heaven if the results are poor he had to go. But now we sorted the results out and seeing the obvious backing for him from the players, happy days. Now I'm firmly Poch in as I was for almost all the season.

Completely agree with needing a senior striker. Osimhen is not a senior striker though. He's certainly more senior than Jackson but he's only 25. Would you consider Mbappe a senior striker? We need someone in his late 20s or early 30s. Guirassy or Chris Wood. Someone who actually has had valuable experiences and someone who can challenge Jackson. Quite frankly, Jackson had too good of a season for us to just put him on the bench next season yet Osimhen would do just that.

I think it’s hard to get perspective on what kind of season Chelsea is having from a non-US Sports viewing audience. The squad turnover is insane, and the fact that they’ve mostly been pieced together based on roles is almost unprecedented in PL history. It is reminiscent of US sport when teams bottom out for high picks. But for a team this young and inexperienced as a collective to come together for European spots considering the competition of this premier league should be viewed as a major accomplishment. I don’t think we need to lump in this season with the previous seasons under the ownership.
@Smananonym23 күн бұрын
Just an insight, if you have played competitive football tournaments in new teams you would know that tactics or set plays as in patterns actually confuse and create more frustration. It is fundamental for a winning team to first find natural combinations as foundations and then start tweaking and create tactical patterns. Chelsea is simply going through a natural progression. Pochettino is perfect for this situation simply because of man management, the players have to like each other. Poch has made that sure first therefore now we see fluid passes, winning games, big celebrations. And yes it will take a few seasons. If success was possible overnight Madrid would not be Madrid.

Let poch continue for another year, hopefully the medical department gets sorted out & there are less injuries. Add a young(24/25 ish) proven striker & gk. Let the players mature furthermore & experience Europe. Then the following season with a relatively experienced squad hire fabregas after he's got his lisence & bagged top flight serie a experience.
