I work in an amazon facility. To give you a little insight on what normally goes on in the building I’ll describe what we do. We get the items, scan them, put them in a pod, then when someone orders the item we pick it from the pod and pack and ship it. We don’t control what goes in the pods, what comes in our building or what/who orders the item. A person in pick doesn’t see the label going on the box. They don’t even see the box. They just put the item the computer tells us to pick in the tote to go down to pack. We just do what the computer tells us. We don’t control any thing

I used to work at Amazon as a picker-someone who goes and picks the items from the various pallets and bins in which they are stored to send them to the packing department- and from experience I can tell you that likely what happened is that all of the cosmo cooktops were likely mislabeled at some point before being placed on the floor for picking. When picking, you are taught to skim through the descriptions so if one item is labeled as something completely different, you’d notice, but if it were something relatively similar, you might not. This is likely also true of the department that labels the products with their ASINs (barcodes used by amazon employees in every step of the handling and shipping process to ensure that you’re getting everything you should be getting in your order). So it was probably just someone who saw that those were induction cooktops, but not that they were the wrong brand, and it just continued to happen over and over because speed is valued almost as highly as quality in their warehouses and both are likely to put someone on probation if not up to par.

I’d encourage you to report them directly to amazon with a description of what happened to you and the other chat member along with a picture of the induction stove you received and your receipt.

Its too real, I hand write little thank you notes and send extra goodies with each package I ship and i have yet to meet another shop owner who doesn't do the same. AND LET ME JUST TELL YOU RIGHT NOW that Im actually so busy doing everything for my shop that i tend to put off every day tasks in order to put personal touches on all of my orders. Its just a priority to me as well as most other good small business owners to ensure everyone has the best experience and that it feels personal even though it might have come from the other side of the wold. Etsy sellers be killing it ;)

Hey my faves! So the thing with amazon is most things on amazon aren’t actually sold by amazon, they’re sold by third party sellers. Even a lot of prime items are sold by third party sellers and are just sent out of fulfillment centers, but aren’t actually sold by amazon. I just looked up the cooktop and the affiliate link from Babish’s site says it’s shipped and sold by A-Mega Store (which is why they’re not prime eligible, they probably ship their own stuff so they can switch items easier). Always check and see if things are “sold by” amazon or if they’re just “fulfilled by” amazon when they are prime though. I used to be an amazon product reviewer when that was still a thing so I know way too much about how that website works. Oh and while the cooktop isn’t sold by amazon it is still covered by their buyer protection.

One time I ordered a calendar on amazon and they sent me a pool floatie. Close enough I guess🤷🏻‍♀️
