It's interesting to hear Draymond talking about his sacrifice and how it was difficult, but ultimately worth it because of all the success that his sacrifice brought about. And on the flip side, Evan Turner was just on JJ Reddick's podcast and was talking about how he was asked to sacrifice, and it ultimately screwed him and his career because it didn't lead to championships and accolades and individual success.

@@exousia2002 yeah for sure luck has a lot to do with it. Which team drafts you and who your teammates are can make or break someone's career. In my opinion though, Evan Turner shouldn't have sacrificed or taken a backseat to anyone who wouldn't actually elevate the team, unless he knew he could be ultra effective as a role player. Clearly that wasn't the case

This is the realist shit. Im a soccer player. Was a d1 player and now one division below professional level in spain. Just turned 23 years old. My first year in spain for the first time ever i lost confidence in myself and my game. The year sucked , circumstances sucked , had toxic teamates who could speak in lingo i didnt understand . Nobody can understand until it happens and its easier said than done to “never lose confidence” but long story short, take risk in your sport and life and realize life still goes on and do it again. Its why i honestly hate when ppl nack on ben simmons, ppl rly dont understand n he cud easily bounce back n become an allstar , its just mindset.

Just to give some context, the Warriors in the regular season and playoffs are 159-31 (.83%) when Draymond hits 2+ threes in a game and 60-9 (.87%) when he makes 3+ three pointers. Him getting this back in his game, like it was 2015-2018, makes the Warriors close to unbeatable. This was the case even before Kevin Durant got there.

Draymond is not only the ultimate overachiever based on the limited basketball skills that god has blessed with but he is such an intelligent basketball player too. He understands his strengths and weaknesses and doesn’t force bad decisions. Too many players in the league are terrible shooters but will still force the situation by dropping up a lot of bad shots. A smart basketball player like Draymond will only shoot it when he has confidence or is in rhythm.

Remember y'all, Patrick Beverly averaged 39ppg in high school. He was an ELECTRIC scorer. But in the NBA, his best skill is defense. So he doesn't take the shots, his job is to play point of attack defense. The warriors work BECAUSE we have a guy like Draymond. You have Steph and klay, but Draymond is the hub that allows both to work off ball and run around all those screens. For the last decade, damn near the most efficient play in the sport has been a steph curry-draymond green pick and roll with Draymond as the roll man. Cause you collapse on steph and he kicks it to Draymond, who then gets to run 4-3 offense likely with klay on the perimeter, a slasher, and a wild card who could be another shooter or a big. Draymond Greens ability to make reads with the ball while rolling to the basket is as good as it gets. And same with him as the guy with the ball in a pick and roll. One of my favorite things that Draymond does is, ESPECIALLY when Steph or Klay is cooking, he'll leverage their gravity and do a fake handoff. Basically always gives us a wide open dunk or layup. Cause everyone jumps at Steph or Klay, and Draymond never gives up the ball and often just gets an easy dunk himself

The thing that irks me about Draymond is that 'confidence' is 90% about putting in the work to have confidence in that shot. When Durant showed up, Draymond stopped even pretending to practice shooting, then after injuries to Klay and Steph he took two years off of doing anything to improve, or even maintain, his game. So when the team got good again, all he had left was defense and passing. It was enough for another championship, but I can't help thinking about how much more awesome his career would have been, and how good the team could be even now, if he had taken the time to maintain his 3 pt shooting (near 40% on open looks in '16) or bothered to develop even say an average level post game (a reliable hook, floater, drop step, etc). But since he didn't, the team is now forced into playing as one of the few teams with two non-shooter starters even as the rest of the league has gone to 4 or even 5 out. Steph and Klay in a 4 out offense would be unstoppable, but instead they have to run this complicated motion offense to use multiple screening actions by non-shooting bigs to free them up. Much easier if Draymond just bothered to practice enough to hit a wide open practice 3. And I swear to the gods of basketball if I have to watch Draymond throw up another airball floater from 1 foot away on a slip action I might break my TV. I think the GS dynasty revolves around Steph, but rose and will likely fall with Draymond.

If the Warriors had Paul George instead of KD during those championship runs then they still get 2 championships. KD just put them way over the top.

Draymond never was, never has, and never will be considered an offensive player, nor a shooter, or scorer. Even at MSU, he was just a very good basketball player that could play, but never like, "this guy is the next two-way great." If he was that guy, he would've been that. He can rationalize it however he wants to, but his super power is his playmaking, leadership, IQ, toughness, and defense.
