Yeah, like watching Armstrong in full pomp - like watching him mess with Pantani. Like of all these top 0.1% athletes he and a few others are in the tiny tiny long tail of that distribution and can toy with the the peleton as if they were 50 year old mamil choppers. Enjoy the spectacle but don't be a total rube.

Pog would probably ride Roubaix after his prime, the risk of riding Roubaix is too high that could affect TDF performances while the chances of winning is the lowest of all monuments, maybe if he doesn’t do TDF then he could go for it
@pjetrs
@pjetrs Жыл бұрын
If there is any TdF winner from the last ten years I suspect could do it, it would be him. He already proved he can ride cobbles and is technically good. Also a great time trialist, even on the flat. But more importantly his body looks like it has a very powerful core strength and he is capable of getting a lot of watts out seated. When he is done with winning the tour i suspect he could do it, with a bit more muscle weight and specific training.
@PeerensClement
@PeerensClement Жыл бұрын
@@ktakashismith Yeah but both Wellens and Pog are better suited to the hill classics or at least something like RVV. Roubaix, is a different story. They cannot match guys like WVA, MvdP, etc. on powering over the cobbles.

I can't decide if this was the case of the best making it look easy, or if Pog is seriously just out on a training ride. His position looks different too, you pointed that out last video. Just noticed that Pogacar is using wider drop bars like they use in Cyclecross. Yes I know he does race Cyclecross. Just weird to see on the road. I could imagine you would have to pay a little more attention when riding in the peloton.
@ktakashismith
@ktakashismith Жыл бұрын
The Enve Aero SES bars they're running have the same outer dimensions as their normal bars, so it's not like he's riding super-wide drops all of a sudden. The difference is the levers are mounted further inwards, and there's only 25mm of flare, so riders that would normally run 40cm "traditional" bars are instead riding with their levers at 35cm width, and the drops at 40cm width. Makes your default position on the hoods more aero, and you don't have to make your bike look cross-eyed by cocking your levers inwards to get that narrow grip. Another advantage of this bar design is that your position in the drops is much more comfortable, because your wrists don't bump against the top of the drops where the levers are mounted.
