I love the fit and feel of the Ava -- thank you, Josephine! I think they feel as comfortable as pointe shoes can. To me, however, the shank seems quite thick, and not very soft. For one of my feet, the shoe is perfect. For my other foot I tried slitting the vamp slightly (had big toe surgery for halix rigidis, so it's shorter and stiff!), which helps a bit. It feels like a 3/4 shank might help, although the shanks of the Ava seem like they can't as easily be hacked as older Capezio styles. However, I didn't attempt it, as it seems as though it would be tough to accomplish, and I'm not sure it would even help, in my case .

I have been on pointe for five years and so far these shoes have been my favorite. I am looking into getting the Bloch heritage shoe though since my feet are quite shallow and not very flexible. I also have pretty short toes so the shorter vamp might work better than these capezios. In my capezios I make many modifications and I’m hoping I can find a shoe where I don’t have to do so much. I always get the Ava in a hard shank and then I jet glue the box and cut out half the shank (my box and demi pointe tend to break down very quickly where as the shank does not) I’m hoping to find a shoe that fits my foot a bit better so I don’t have to cut out like half the shank.

Modern feet....I certainly don’t have those. Please make a video about fuller, wider feet with high arches and flexible ankles...can’t describe how much I struggle to find a good pair in Asia when most of ppl here have thinner feet....😭

My daughter had Energetiks Emilia which is a beautiful ivory shoe but as a beginner her teacher suggested a wider box. She is hard to fit as she has broad toes and a very slim ankle but the Ava's fit her best and I'm excited to see what she can do on them!

I LOVE LOVE LOVE the Ava! My only issue with them is that they die pretty quickly and cause my toenails to break.

I tried these on at my first pointe shoe fitting today, and they were SO COMFORTABLE!! They didn't feel like any shoes i tried on today. My fitter said they may be good for me when i am a bit stronger and know where my strengths and weaknesses are, so she put me in a Capizio Contempora for my first pair, which are a bit more painful, but not to bad. I wish i could have gotten these shoes, would definitely recommend them for a more comfortable pair of shoes.

I suspect young women whose feet/ankle lines are “challenged” will like this shoe.

I love these shoes for my somewhat wide feet and high arches/flexible ankles. However, I’m beginning to feel the vamp is a little too high but I just got two new pairs. Is there anything I can do to fix this?

I really like this shoe on my students. The lower cut heel gives a beautiful line and makes them really sleek. I agree that they break lower than I typically like as a teacher. Is it possible to cut the shank at 3/4 to get that higher break look?

I love the shoe, but I’ve had problems getting over my box which I believe Is due to not having right with and my box died after about three months. For reference at the beginning I had mine on for an hour and a half a week and then in the last month I’ve gone up to three hours or so week.

Can you give some insight as to how long toenails should be/shaped? I always hear stories about toenails that are too long cause pain as well as toenails that are too short. Thank you!
@isabellaflewellen393
@isabellaflewellen393 5 жыл бұрын
Your nails should be as short as you can get them without being to short and painful. Try to keep them level with your actual toe if you can, I've found that's the easiest way to go by. The stories you heard were true about having nails that are too long/short. It can be very painful and just flat out bad for your feet if they aren't cut enough. Hope that helps you out a bit. :)

I don't have toenails and I don't feel bothered by it in pointe, obviously not suggesting to rip off yours or something but there's no too short as long it doesn't cause you pain

I have a love-hate relationship with these. They are amazing once I'm on pointe, super supported and look great on my feet. But for some reason when I roll through, my toes jam in the box unnaturally and they end up more bruised than usual. I'm an adult and only dance on pointe recreationally at my age, but I've been doing it for seven years (not including teenage years). I've gone through Blochs (Sonata--a loooong time ago! European balance, eurostretch), gaynor mindens, Russian pointe (Rubin Radiance), and a few others. I thought the Avas were my perfect shoe when I first tried them on, because I loved the balance. Unfortunately, they were quite different in practice. There's negligible pinching when I'm standing flat to where I disregarded it. But the pain from rolling through would demand notice about 20-30 mintues into class (instead of at the end of class with the other brands and only if I'd been on a hiatus). And I'm not talking about the typical swelling about 10-15 minutes into warmup that goes away. The discomfort persists in the Avas. It takes about a day and a half for my feet to feel normal again after wearing these for 90 minutes (honestly, after a few classes, I ended up removing them after the first hour). Whereas with the other pointe shoes, only a few hours of rest and soaking sets me right. I've stopped wearing them, but will still occassionally try them on to use their balance as a pointe of reference when I'm prepared to purchased a fresh pair of pointe shoes.

I know this is an old comment but if you see this I had the same experience with these shoes! I ended up concluding that the shape of the box was just a little too tapered for me. I wonder if we have similar feet, as I have also worn Bloch Sonatas and Gaynor Mindens in the past. Have you ever tried Grishko/Nikolay Elites? I don't think many people know about this shoe but it is perfect for me. They have a very low vamp, flat profile and wide box (I was a WW in the Avas and but in the Elites I am not even in the widest size). The only issue I have is that it takes me forever to break them in, but they are still a far better fit for me than anything else I've tried. Best of luck in your pointe shoe search! :)

How is the sizing compared to the European balance and the width.
@kailintang_offdutydancer
@kailintang_offdutydancer 2 жыл бұрын
@@teirynevaughn1526 late to reply, as someone who have switched from the European Balance to Capezio Ava, there are several differences I noticed between both shoes though they're similar: 1. Capezio Ava's width across the metatarsal area is wider than European Balance's - European Balance XXXX (which depending on the region, hard to find) is the same width as Capezio Ava W (Ava widths goes up to WW) 2. Ava's shank is slightly shorter than the shank on the European Balance - based on my personal experience with both shoes, my arch breaks higher in the Avas on the shank as compared to European Balance, where my arch looked like it breaks at the halfway point of the shank instead of 3/4 3. As the heel is lower on the Avas, fitting them based on the length of the foot can feel that the shoe feels short - which can be rectified by going half a size up as half sizes in the Avas are shorter than the half sizes in European Balance hope this helps :)
