According to the Pointless A-Z book, they surveyed people before the show began whether or not they wanted the trophy. Most people apparently said that they "wished strongly" to have it (i.e. they coveted it). Whether this is true or not is up to you.

Yes, it looks like she thought the scores would roll over into the next round. Quite an understandable mistake, given the newness of it all.

The Danish version also made some differences! Instead of a pool of prize money, it's the same amount every time. A pointless answer nets the pair money they're certain to take home. There are only 3 pairs, and only one main round with several questions, where one pair leaves, and the remaining two go on to the head to head. It's also not best of 3, it's the first pair to get 3 correct answers. Also, eliminated pairs don't return! So a lot of differences, but all in all it makes for a fresh watch

To me, the idle chitchat that goes on in round 1 on modern episodes is even more of a slog. They could cut the airtime in half if they didn’t natter on. Fortunately KZfaq has a skip ahead function and a hurry up function. If I had to watch the whole drawn out affair, I’d do something else.

@@SugarDottiesCakes I think it is scripted and I think the 'contestants' are all actors. Common for quiz shows that are just starting off or need more control over what will happen.

@@BabelColour Pilot episodes aren't usually broadcast, they're made for TV executives who decide whether to make a full series or not, this is the first episode of the full series, not a pilot episode.

Pilot episodes are broadcast and are usually the 1st episode 👌 got to take it with a pinch of salt but great to watch
