At 30:40, I'm pretty sure if you let the Chandra copy target the other rotpriest before casting the march, you'd win on the spot. Although it didn't end up mattering anyway lol

20:40 you could've cast the blue march for X=2 here to also phase out their underdog, saving you an extra 3 life (Which would've bought you another turn later)

It would've also prevented them from drawing with Gix that turn, so it would've been comparative card advantage too.

9:11 If you do X=3 you can trigger Ivy to copy March on her for 2 more poison. Obviously it didn’t matter here but it’s a neat trick

Last game was azorious control. it usually runs alot of 1 for 1 removal like lay down arms and such and 4 copies of make disappear, with the creatures being only ambitious farmhand in the main. the deck usually wins by clearing the board and gaining advantages by 2 for 1ing your opponents with cards like wandering emperor and tef until it can just overvalue you with planswalkers and tokens.

I've built basically this exact deck for BO3 a while back. It's actually quite resilient, though I still wouldn't call it good. Burgeoning really underperformed for me, in nearly all cases I'd rather had another protection spell, so I ended up trimming a few. Mist on the other hand I always wished I had the moment I got a Rotpriest on the board.

20:50 I believe March can phase out opponents creatures too so you could have phased out the 3/2 to save yourself some damage

20:50 wouldn't it be best to also target their Underdog here? No other spells in hand and it prevents their damage. Also stops their card draw from Gix that turn, though we didn't know about that at time of casting the spell.

Don't think so, last time I checked card win rates for the archetype it was one of the worst performing cards.

In terms of getting more copies of Rotpriest out, Ikoria can be safer because you can more easily tap out with it early game without worrying about a removal spell in response. Where Ikoria can guarantee a replacement Rotpriest (ignoring counter spells) while Counterpart can fizzle. And for March of Burgeoning, it can functionally be 1 mana with its effects, and even then some people argue it's still risky early game instead of just keeping 1 mana protection up.

a frustrating deck to play against. the poison dynamic is just not very fun for other players IMO

@@rockosmodurnlif My main issue with it is there is no way to remove poison, so it becomes a race to 10 counters. Things like Rotpriest just reward you for interacting with yourself. It becomes a game of solitaire where you dont even need to interact with your opponent.

@@dropspace There are a few things. Removal, protection, and a few cards which prevent counters. But yeah, that is kind of the point of poison.

Good lord I hate this deck. Haste on creatures has some issues in this meta, but the "I interact with my creatures on turn 3 and by turn 4 my next interaction/attack wins me the game" really doesn't feel like a game of MtG.

I truly HATE Ivy. I quit every time I come across one because I'm not here to lose by turn three or four in play queue, I'm here to play the game. In ranked, I'd expect it, but... yuck. Still a good video tho

They need more anti-poison measures other than Melira. She is just so niche, and this deck sucks to try and interact with. Try and destroy their creatures? They make them hexproof and deal poison in the process. Super hard to race against even with aggro decks. You have to be on the play and have 2-3 interaction spells just to get past their defenses. Just my opinion, but this deck is anti-fun.

@@ericboldger777 Why? the point of poison is that once it's on, you shouldn't be able to get rid of it. Sweeper, removal, protection, counters, killing your opponent faster and similar are tools against this.
