Still amazed how the Gen 9 series has a 6+ episode arc in Galar of all places. Sprigs & Arboliva really calmed down Moltres by making them TOUCH GRASS.

Yeah you pretty much nailed it imo. This arc has been amazing so far, but it's a real shame they set up that cliffhanger with Friede and Amethio being trapped with Galarian Moltres only for Friede to escape without even showing us what happened.

Horizons finally serving up the Pokemon epic lore and storytelling that I wish the games after RSE and also the original anime could have given us. As someone who played RBY at 10 years old on the original GB, I really, really appreciate this.

I was just playing DKC the other day, so it was nice to see that mine cart level. I wonder what personality Liko would get if she took the Myers-Briggs test. I took it the other night and got INFJ. And I can't wait to see how the Horizons story continues to cook. But yeah, like you said, the opening for episode 23 was rather awkward considering how episode 22 ended.

Ngl though that weird cliffhanger kinda threw me off. Like it was to the point where I felt as if I skipped a whole episode. I'm wondering if they have something else planned to fill in the gap as to how/what happened with Friede and Amethio with Moltres because it just felt really jarring to go from what was hard set up as a continuation just to have it... not be one?? Other than that weirdness, yeah, Horizons as always is killing it. The best the anime has ever been, and that's coming from someone who binged all 1200+ episodes in a year.

Horizons Era is the Peak! Liko's latest capture is adorable and fit her character really well. Slow pace and character development is better than... whatever Ash was.

It’s probably just me but the ancient explorer looks like a younger version of Tobias😅 Also the ancient explorers next Pokémon from the description describes a horse type Pokémon like Rapidash or even Glastrier or Spectrier 🤔

Something I noticed is that Liko and Roy kind of represent 2 sides of Ash, Roy mainly represents Ash's love and excitement for pokemon battles and adventure, while Liko mainly represents Ash's love and compassion for pokemon. There are probably other things that I missed.

it fits her dream since she will be an adventurer. A person who is compassionate towards others and her pokemon would fit an adventurer much better than a trainer since she doesnt seem to be the type of person who wants to battle so if she does battle it will be as an adventurer. it will be interesting to watch her journey as an adventurer once this anime ends and starts her real journey.

It’s pretty obvious that the shiny rayquaza isn’t running away from them but just leading them to the ancient adventurers Pokemon

Captain pikachu was at a disadvantage tbh since he was fighting while protecting 2 pokemon and 2 trainers all 4 are super inexperienced. Captain Pikachu if they didnt have any disadvantage or was not holding back would have fought it till a standstill or would have lost but not to the point of the damage it received in this disadvantage battle

It's cool that someone who's personality is pretty different from Ash (Ash being stubborn, hot headed, and at times, reckless: Liko being an introvert) yet they both bond with the Pokemon before catching them. Both are very in tune with Pokemon's feelings, but one is an extrovert whilst the other an introvert.

Liko is less of a battler and more of an empath; she is the antithesis to Ash in nearly every single way.

Don't get me wrong I LOVE pokemon Horizons and it does A LOT of things well. However, one area that they are lacking in so far is challenging the main characters to overcome hardship over long periods. The capture of Galarian Maltras was way too early. It did not feel earned or deserved. The gang are running into Lucius's pokemon far too easily. Liko established her goal of being a trainer that understands how pokemon feel in episode 21, now, just 2 episodes later she is able to calm a Galarian maltras? That does not make sense. It would have been a lot more meaningful in Liko tried to calm down Maltras, connected with it somewhat, but failed to calm it down resulting in Maltras flying away. Liko would then have to improve in her still in connecting to pokemon before encountering maltras again later. The original series with all its flaws, one thing it did well was establish emotional weight to a situation over a long period of time. Ash saved a dying charmander and became friends with it. When it evolved is stopped listening. When it did listen to ash in battle (eg, against Blain's magmar) it shattered Ash's hope by not regaining loyalty. Charzard lost ash the indigo league. Then after more than 100 episodes ash regained its trust and loyalty. Horizons feels like a lot of its milestones operate in Mcdonolds fashion. The characters set out on a mission and than very conveniently just run into it and get it without much long-term struggle. Arbaliva can be forgiven bc it was the pokemon that introduced the "catch Lucius's pokemon" storyline, but with Maltras they found it and captured it way too quickly and easily. Sure the gang did struggle momentarily against Maltras in the short term, but them calming it down and catering it in 2 episodes did not feel deserved. There was no long-term struggle.

20+ Episodes and no gym badges yet. Unless I missed something.

No offense to Roy but he’s dosnt really feel like he has a strive to be powerful like ash Roy I love him but it dosnt really feel like he’s doing training seriously plus he never show a strive to get stronger

Already, the thing I hate about Horizons is that they haven’t built up the world or established the characters properly. They’ve just thrown us into this story and expect everyone to care about these characters. But I don’t think they have been able to do that. They should of allowed us to get to know Liko and Roy before doing this whole major storyline thing. We need good filler episodes too build up the characters. Horizons has either given bad filler episodes or episodes that focus on that storyline they want us to care about. If you do care about it that’s fine, but I just haven’t been able to want to root for Liko and for her to be successful. I think she is a poorly written character and is just a bad replacement in general. They need to allow us to get to know Liko before they did what they are doing.
