What do you think about this?
Is Bulbasaur really based on a frog?
Is Pikachu a Mouse? or Chipmunk?
Some Eeveelutions look like cats and some others look like foxes, it's hard to guess sometimes, tell me your opinion!

Vulpix's line is not just based on any fox, it's based on the mythical Japanese Kitsune fox, which was typically known for having nine tails. Hence the name.

The term shellfish only applies to mollusks and crustaceans. Blastoise and its pre - evolutions are none of those.

The bulbasaur line was based on a mammal like reptile called the Dicynodont, that's why it has scales and has ears. It took me like five seconds to Google that.

Good Pokemon designs draw from multiple inspirations. Bulbasaur is a good example of one Pokemon coming from 4+ concepts.

The inventor of Pokemon was a boy who lived in Japan. The inspirations for the bug types mostly in Generation One are based off of the bugs which he likely saw growing up. He is, of course, Satoshi Tajiri. Where he got the ideas for the name, catching the creatures he called Pokemon (pocket monsters), evolutions, candy, and battles were all likely influenced by his own creativity, and his small case of autism, which made his Pokemon even more original and meaningful.

I always thought Bulbasaur and the rest of it's family were based off some kind of dinosaur because of the "saur" part. If you think about it, it's quite accurate because the other two kanto starter families have something sounding like the animal or species they're based off.

The suffix "saur" is a misnomer. Not everything that ends with the word "saur" is a dinosaur or even a reptile for that matter. It's generally used for any animal that resembles a reptile, but it's more commonly used to name extinct species of reptile - like tetrapods some of which are non - amniote reptiliomorphs which are very amphibian - like but exhibit some reptilian features as well.

Slowbro looks like a pink hippo but I think it looks like a pink Uromastyx cause it has a soft slightly smooth skin but has a spiky tail! Also cause Uromastyx uses it's tail for defense.

Voltorb and Electrode are based on Pokéballs. They're also based on an old japanese Anime, where inanimate objects come to life on their 100th birthday. That is also why Voltorb is No. 100 in the national Pokedex.
