I love the lore for all of these. I find Infernape’s especially interesting, especially given it seems like what we got was them being native to what would become an island resort in the modern Sinnoh - which is kind of alarming, honestly.

It would make sense, since infernape is supposed to be inspired by Sun Wukong, (the Monkey King from Journey To The West) and he was born on an island and lived in Flower Fruit Mountain. So it would be a pretty cool call back to that reference.

These designs look so good. It makes a lot of sense that torterra gained the ground typing to resist the sinnoh pollution since that is tied with the poison type which ground is supper effective against. And previously h.torterra took was 4x weak to it.

The Grass-Fairy Torterra has me curious why Gamefreak introduced two regional variants that were Grass-Fight in Hisui, instead of some variation- that and Hisuian Sneasel having the Toxicroak typing.

Yeah its a bit weird, i kinda wish that the lilligant was fairy type to mimic whimsicott but Hisuan Decidueye is fofhting tyoe because they just love the Dark, Fighting, and Ghost type triangle. The Gen 9 starters are the same but the triangle is reversed

The Sinnoh starters not getting Hisuian Forms is the biggest FU GameFreak could've given to them. I really love these designs especially H. Infernape.

But these pokemon are native to the sinnoh/hisuean region. It wouldn’t make sense that they had different forms since all the hisuean regional variant changed because they came from different regions

Such a sinnoh hype lost opportunity Don’t get me wrong I love evil samurai samurrot and blazed emo typho (meh with decidueye but love OG alola boi) But damn theses sinnoh designs would’ve been awesome And could’ve had a (if done) legends celebi with new forms for the OG mono type starters (johto)

Actually, in Japanese stories, apes are known to be more villains than heroes. They tend to go to the farmers crops and read them. It got so bad that some of the Japanese samurai was ask to help out any farmers that were being rude by monkeys even in modern times the Japanese farmers still hate monkeys reading their farms. They have dogs that will go after them and kill them and also that the reason why dogs are depicted as officers and other good things so more often than not if you see a primate in a bad light in Japanese stuff it’s because of farmers, not liking their crops, getting rated and destroyed by those monkeys.

Idk I’ve seen a loooooooot of bad fan work lol. And when I say bad, I don’t mean the art is bad, I mean the Pokémon design is bad. There are definitely people who know what they’re doing, but I see way more people who just spit stuff out and hope it sticks because the real Pokémon aren’t popular, like with the final evolutions of the starters.

To be fair they do make good designs for pokemon fairly often, but I think the main thing fans have that Game Freak lacks is Passion and Time, but Ithink its mostly a time thing, they have to pump out a new game every three years or so

Hisuian forms for the Sinnoh starters would have made a LOT more sense than randomly getting Rowlet, Cyndaquil and Oshawott for no real reason.

Agreed. I honestly thought when the game was announced we would get new variations of the Sinnoh starters or have the starters scrapped in favor of choosing a wild Pokémon to befriend at the start (similar to Pokémon Ranger Shadows of Almia)

@@HoshitheLycanroc They did that though? It makes sense that animals would evolve over time due to human involvement in the area. That’s why we have domesticated animals and wild animals that have adapted to live in human controlled areas. Pigeons are a great example of birds that thrive while living in cities despite not being domesticated. It makes perfect sense for Pokémon to do the same and change over time to adapt to human created changes to the environment.

honestly elite.4's take on Sneasler(?) fixes exactly what problems I had with it. while I think it's an OK design originally, it just feels... bare? like it's missing something. elite's design fixes that and gave it an amazing colour palette!

That sneasler design concept at the beginning could work great for a Mega Weavile, if that mechanic ever returned. Maybe a Pokemon crossbreed gimmick could work too.

I really liked H.Empoleon he really leans into old and traditional Battle tacticians with their head crest symbolising the peice worn by high ranking war strategist and the other parts of their body that also reference the big jauty and excessive outfits strategist wore to excentrize their grand place and status

I actually never really thought of this. We do know that the starters actually migrated off Sinnoh at some point as their current native home is in the same region as Ranger: Guardian Signs which is why they aren’t catchable in DPPL
