Rules of the challenge:
1. All encounters must be shiny Pokemon (HM users may not be shiny but are not allowed to be used for attacking in battle)
2. Fainting = Death
3. Can only catch one Pokémon on each Route (Species Clause)
4. Cannot use a species of Pokemon more than once in the franchise (regional variants are considered separate)
5. No items in battle (held items okay)
6. No leveling past the next gym leader/E4 (at the START of the battle)
7. Play on "Set" battle mode

Just a heads up in case it ever matters, but there is a bug in gen 2 that causes the dragon fang to do nothing. Due to an error the dragon scale has the fang's held effect.

Bite actually has a 30% flinch chance from gen 2 onwards, it's only 10% in gen 1, probably to make it more different from stomp. Still does today.

If I remember correctly, Gen2 trainers only use Full restores on their ace pokemon. This is why Red doesn't use it on other Pokemon because his Ace is Pikachu, and nly Pikachu gets the healing items.

It's not really the Ace pokemon - they only use it on the highest level pokemon they have.

One of the weird things in early Gen Pokémon is that trainer AI will only use healing items on their highest level or “ace” Pokémon. It works on most gym trainers, but really screws Red in the Gen 2 games because he will only ever use a full restore on his Pikachu.

Brother, I love this series, but in the first five minutes you made us sit through the introduction, complaining about losing subs, a sponsor segment, and asking for $25 to nickname a Pokémon. I nearly clicked off the video because of this, I realise that all that information is important to mention, but maybe try to sprinkle it throughout the video instead of dumping it all in the beginning. It was 2 minutes and 40 seconds. This is 40 seconds longer than the average viewer of a channel of this size typically will watch before clicking off due to disinterest. If you are multiple videos into the series, maybe we don't need the full intro. And a youtuber whining that their own poor marketing and abuse of community pings is hurting their channel is not what to use these 2 minutes of attention span on.

You don't even need to justify repel spam by mentioning money. Technically you can encounter an infinite number of pokemon on a single basic repel by turning back and forth in a corner, because the act of changing direction can generate an encounter, but changing direction does mot consume a repel step. Heck, if you're really precise about your inputs, you don't even need the corner. That is just the easiest way to guarantee against mis-steps. Also fantastic tech to use in safari zone hunts, for the same encounters without steps reason.

I think I might be able to call it here... Black and White remakes will drop before this finishes, forcing you to go through them at the end. Might wanna plan for that possibility when it comes around to it, leaving 2 mons on a few early routes available. You'll thank yourself if it happens, though prolly be annoyed if it doesn't which... I don't think they'll be out by then tbh, especially with the RNG manipulation that is achievable in Gens 3-5, leaving us to Gen 6 where the shiny odds are doubled. Hopefully it'll be finished by the time Z-A comes out!

I thought of a slightly different challenge for you once you eventually complete this series challenge: Full Series Nuzlocke, but your encounter choices for each game are worked through a randomizer. Basically, you can't optimize your team as much as you could with the first run through, and don't have to deal with the time sink of the shiny challenge.

Member only streams make no sense. Gifted subs are a whole money making model where you have a chance that a random viewer winning one will gift subs in return or possibly resub at the end of the gift. Members only eliminates that. I guess the pool of current members is lucrative enough to cap the steam potential there

In gen 3 onwards you can rng abuse for shinies if you want which will save you time however if you don’t want to do that it’s understandable

Honestly I think it would have been significantly easier to grab a nugget or a TM and use the G/C/S cloning glitch to get money rather than use the password to change the time to get berries to sell 😅 Ah well, if it works it works

Oh for sure, but for as early as it is, it makes sense to do the Berry repeat thing. In fact, that's what they do in the Oak Challenge of Gold/Silver to get the Moon Stone before Falkner so you can get Wigglytuff. AbsolBlogsPokemon has a great video on that exact interaction in this game.

Wait so you can do speedrun strats here but still think it’s impossible for Gen 2 Water types only? This is how I told you can use to beat G/S water types only. Granted you’d need some finagling like leveling Magikarp to 20 to handle rival 2 and not over level but it’s not impossible

I got my shiny feraligator at 2516 resets on may 8th bro I was so happy cuz I honestly didn’t think it was real I posted it on my shorts n all. I want a full team of 6 keep in mind I’m now 51 hours in 2 gym badges in golden rod city route 35 going for either vulpix or nidoran for my second and third Pokémon. I still only have feraligator… but that’s cuz I kinda got lazy n I’m only doin like 50 resets a day currently at 3341 encounters but after watching this video today alone I’m at 51 encounters😭if anyone down to join me n do a shiny only Pokémon soul silver comment so we can run it. Tdy June 24th been 2 months let’s see when I get my second team member😀
