@Regis Johnson no, the fact he eventually lost the hand is not evidence he did not slowroll his opponent. It is a slowroll because there was no decision but to call all in as soon as he checked to verify both his cards were diamonds and he had the current best hand possible. had the bet not been big enough to put him all in, or if there were others in the pot when the bet big enough to put him all in then it would not have been a slowroll.

Yeah, that's completely different. You're acting like it's a tough decision to make your opponent question what you have, that's good poker psychology. There's absolutely no reason to do it here unless someone is just trying to be a jerk in life. There's just somethings in life you don't do. You don't stick a fork in a plugged in toaster, you don't take candy from a baby, and you should never slowroll

What you're describing isn't slow-rolling - it's just a normal aspect of poker (to try and represent a hand you don't have, in order to maximise your winnings). What this guy did was disgusting. But I felt he played the hand really strangely from the outset. He seemed to be pretty short-stacked, and KQ-suited is a strong hand at that stage, but anything can happen once the flop comes out. The fact he just called (as opposed to shoving) was a bit of a surprise. And I genuinely cannot see why he slow-rolled for so long. Part of me wonders if he misread his cards - perhaps he didn't realise they were suited.

His explanation for this afterwards was that he thought he had King of diamonds and Queen of HEARTS - so he was deciding whether or not to push in on a flush draw. Not sure if that's actually true, but it's a good reminder to check your cards properly.

i would believe it except he keeps constantly checking his hand, even gives it a look after donnacha puts him all in, puts it down.. waits a bit longer... checks it again.. if he really misread his queen after checking that many times i dont know why he's even at a poker tournament.

Even if true, he's getting 3:2 against top pair, 2:1 against two pair, and 3:1 against top set with just his NUT draw. And that doesn't include times he's got two live cards like against JJ, dominating another king, or worse. Short stacked and this much equity... this is an automatic shove for his tournament life. He's NEVER getting a better shot to double up. Should have shoved pre-flop.

No. If the board had paired (in which case the nut flush isn't possible), I could see a bit of thinking first. But in this flop, you have around an 80% chance even against 2 pair or 3 of a kind....if you're not sticking your small stick in with those odds, just give up trying to play.

If you also followed the hands slowly, a 6 was in the muck pile, so the odds of him hitting the full house was worse. True justice for the gent. You can't slow roll someone with an ace high flush using and wasting so much time. Just go all in and take your chance. He would have been sympathized going through a bad beat instead.

I've done something like this on accident before (guy in the video obviously wasn't accidental). I had a different suit than what I thought and ended up tanking for a long time, when I finally called the all in I saw my hand was nuts. It was cash so I just waited for the river and thankfully he sucked out so I didn't have to table my hand and look like a douche or explain my mistake.
