Phil Hellmuth is having a rough day at the office. He's already had a few controversies and meltdowns on Live at the Bike, and this time he's doing both simultaneously. When Nick Vertucci runs a big bluff on Phil, Mike Matusow seemingly tries to help him out, but in the end only serves to set the Poker Brat into a steaming rage.

He especially enjoys reviewing hands by popular high stakes pros like Viktor "Isildur" Blom, Fedor Holz, Dan Cates (Jungleman), Tom "Durrrr" Dwan, Phil Hellmuth, Phil Ivey, and Daniel Negreanu.

Revisited this today. This video is infuriating in so many ways led of course by matusow blatantly cheating to help the guy who bought him into the game. There is zero chance this wasn't an angle on purpose, matusow has way way too much experience to do this on accident. I still think hellmuth may have folded on purpose because he knew how bad this was, and after the hand he also doesn't mention matusow mentioning the spades. With his experience hellmuth would know to snap call on that info. Then just add in Nik being so freaking stupid he's high fiving a guy that just tried to cheat to help hellmuth steal from him.

I’m completely lost. I’ve been a dealer in Vegas for twenty years and that just plain is not allowed. Do they not allow dealers to control tables when they are on tv with pros or why does this always happen on these shows and the dealer never says anything? I have to show discretion with tourists who are unfamiliar with the rules but these are pros. They can’t do that shit. Why does no dealer or pit boss ever tell them to shut up. Do it again and your gone? This isn’t supposed to be a controversy. This isn’t supposed to be a situation where someone “should” act a certain way to prevent you from going on tilt. It’s not allowed. And if no one’s gonna enforce it then why wouldn’t you be able to do it and play poker however you want to mess with peoples heads and piss them off. It always boggles my mind how dealers or even pit bosses if they don’t want dealers on tv dealing with pros just let these pros play however they want and break rules. You wouldn’t let a pro string bet. Why do you allow them to do this?

Played at a table one time and out played an older gentleman at the table for a hand. He was obviously sour about this so he decided that he was going to talk during all of my hands and tell the other players what he felt I had. I let it go on for a bit because he wasn't even close to being right, but then I started to get annoyed. Entered a very large hand where I was bluffing and he correctly pointed it out. I kept my composure until the end of the hand and then told him he if he opened his fat fucking face again, I would be glad to close it for him. He probably had a 100 pounds on me but whatever. He stood up and before he could completely stand up, I was up and within arms length of him which put him off guard. Starting stuttering saying it was no big deal and that I should calm down. I disagree with your analysis on the turn Doug, here's why: You say Phil shouldn't be worried by the flush because Nick would have raised on the flop with a flush draw but two issues with that. 1) Phil could have JJ in his range given the pre flop action and that should be taken into account, so even with a flush draw re-raising in that spot is an unnecessary risk with a draw vs. 3 of a kind IMO. 2) Phil has no flush blockers so I think him worrying about his opponent having at least one spade is relatively reasonable. No disrespect meant, you are obviously a better poker player than me but I had to point out I don't agree with that.

I don't understand why Polk (he is probably right, no doubt) says Phil should jam after the turn with his remaining $8,500. With an ace high flush draw with no pairs plus two over cards (all within Polk's range of Nick), Nick for sure calls $8,500 into now a $17,000 pot. He isn't getting Nick out regardless. Now after the river card, Phil has position. If Nick checks, Phil can showdown or bet. In this case, Nick goes all in which is no different than after the turn if Phil was supposed to shove after the turn anyways. It actually seems better that Nick shoves now because he if has nothing, often times it is a good opportunity to bluff at the pot. Coin flip decision I guess.

There were so many shady and ridiculous things that happened in this stream that you could make 5 videos from the night. I wonder if Hellmuth picks up on what Mikey says and ends up calling what the eventual outcome would be? I have to imagine he’d be shamed into splitting the pot or something. Absolutely absurd to come from someone who’s been playing 20+ years...so much so you have to wonder if it’s an attempt at helping Phil out or if he’s just that spaced out.

Once you get in enough preflop with Aces, don't fold post-flop. I think the number is around 14 big blinds. Anything above that, you can get it on every flop and your opponent literally cannot outflop you often enough to profit. A few big blinds more than that, and you don't have to fold even all the way to the river. I don't know how much Hellmuth had back here, but huge preflop pots do a fantastic job of protecting Aces.

I think the better answer is Phil knew he had to fold after matusow angled him the spades info to not look like they both are lowlife cheaters. Matusow is a scumbag but Phil can't risk losing his credibility. Phil was steaming at mikes blatant cheating which put him in a bad spot.

all these pros collude. they pretend they hate each other but they are always either dumping chips to each other in tournaments and acting like they hate each other, or like this at 9:40, where Matusow tells Hellmuth he had a flush thus letting Phil know he had 2 spades and thus Nick having a flush was less likely. This was also the case where Matusow had a "fight" with Shawn Shekhan. Shawn slammed his fist on the table when he saw the ace on the flop. he was giving a false tell to the opponent signaling the he "had" an ace and thus the likelihood of Mike having an Ace (which he did) was less likely. Vegas card players, pros.. a lot of collusion there.

I honestly think Phil was aware of Mike's giveaway, and intentionally folded to cover Mike's stupidity, avoiding the ugly fallout that would've resulted. (1) Phil recovers quickly (2) Phil drills Mike repeatedly to "shut the f*** up Mike" after returning, and is jovial while doing it. (3) Phil is very complimentary to the winner I believe this is a rare insight into Phil's maturity and his love of the game.

Interesting idea - perhaps Phil bets large on the flop because there is a fairly high chance opponent has a suited ace, and he wants to charge that hand. Middle pairs aren't going to pay up much more than a flop c-bet, and suited connectors of spades will pay up especially thse containing a 6.

I'm laughing at the comments about the hand reveals. These guys have been playing each other long enough not to believe anything anyone says at the table about any hand they haven't shown. It's bad play at an open table but as Phil clearly pointed out it's invite only. What you're seeing is how friends play poker. Never miss an opportunity to poke fun at your friend's loss, knowing full well they'll return the favour when it's your turn to take the hit. It keeps everyone humble, well everyone except Phil.

While Matusow didn't need to make the remark, Hellmuth had no business showing his cards to anybody while the hand was active. For someone like Matusow that's practically begging him to say something like "I knew you had aces." Phil brought that on himself.
