Yeah they usually are quick to wrap up. The ranges open right up, meaning they'll play a lot more hands than earlier in the tournament. Just like J 8. The likelihood of your opponent having a better Jack is so low at that point. If the table was full of players, it would be different.

To be clear... CBS (CBS Sports Network) is the one that received the broadcast rights from ESPN in 2021. PokerGo is the streaming service that is being used though (that was CBS decision). But CBS Sports Network is the one that owns the broadcast and is receiving money for it. CBS initially said in 2021 that they would broadcast it on their Sports Network channel. They apparently changed plans. So CBS could be broadcasting it... (and they have plenty of $$ already) but they're choosing to use PokerGo as the streaming service instead of the TV. PokerGo does not have exclusive rights. CBS could say adios to them.

Because he ran into a player at the top of his range. He is likely getting folds from AKs, AKo, AQs, KQs, and all pairs 10-10, 9-9. 8-8, and 7-7, all of these in Weinman's 3 bet range, and he's only getting called by JJ , QQ, KK and AA. Many more combo's that fold there than call. Throughout this tournament he got better hands to fold many times. When you play as aggressive as he does, it's inevitable you get in a spot like this. But his style of play is what got him to the final table, and to 3rd place. He never had any plans of slowing down, he doesn't play TAG ever, he is always going to be the most aggressive player at the table.

@@joemarks3719 It was a terrible play, and not just because of the result. He risked 200m to win 40m or so. He could've set-mined for 21m, and then maybe got creative with his un-setted 88, and THEN possibly got AA to fold. Shoving pre is just absolutely awful in that spot. Makes ZERO sense.
@Der_Fabi
@Der_Fabi 10 ай бұрын
@@joemarks3719 You can expect BB calling range to be a bit wider... there is no way Weinman 3 bet folds AK or TT after this action. Even 99, AQ I expect to call as they are supposed to. The only value hands that I see folding are the AJo, KQs, KJs type hands. The important fold equity comes from BB's bluffs such as A5o, J9s, 96s type hands. Depends on how many of them Weinman 3 bets the shove with 88 is more or less profitable. For sure not GTO though.

He's risking 203m to win 41.5m, which just makes ZERO sense to me. He was only on the hook to lose 5m if he folds, and could've set-mined for 21m instead with a call-fold strategy. Watched a compilation video of Jamie Gold's run back in '06. Similar top prize, but the top 12 were all $1M or better payouts. 12th this year? $535K. But then again, the payouts were for the top 10% back then, versus 15% this year, so had to spread the wealth more.

I felt for a long time that jones tactic is just going to call on that turn card and hope for something cheeky big or combination for river and then raise all in. Would have changed this turn imo. Wp anyway Weinman.

Tobad Pokergo has our beloved main event behind a paywall. I dont think any other sport does this to their biggest "world championship". When the free stream ended they had more then 50k viewers on youtube and alot on twitch aswell. Let this be a lesson to the organizers; get your money from sponsorships, advertisements etc.

When they put it behind a paywall I vowed to never give them a sub. The main event should be free to view.

WSOP doesn't mae the money the others do. By the way, NHL Hockey Stanley Cup Finals are on TNT aka cable TV. That is not free TV.

To be clear... CBS (CBS Sports Network) is the one that received the broadcast rights from ESPN in 2021. PokerGo is the streaming service that is now being used though.

@@chriskay1449 I can go to any bar in any city and they will have on the Stanley Cup finals, or if they don't I can politely ask them to turn it on. Its readily available to watch around town, at any establishment with cable. PokerGo is not something that a bar or restaurant is going to have or pay for if you ask them to. They do not stream YoutTube from their TV's. They have cable and all the sports channels. And when ESPN had it we could all watch it and enjoy. But as I said....CBS Sports Network is the ones who recieved broadcast rights from ESPN... ESPN used to use PokerGo in conjunction with airing it on TV. CBS has chosen to only use PokerGo streaming service and not put it anywhere else.

The thing is that Jones had "won" that $6 million once he got heads up, so at that point, that's the minimum he can walk away with it. He won 6m for outlasting 10k people but had he outlasted one more, he doubles that payout. Looking back, he'll 100% be happy with his result, but the gut punch in the moment has to suck.

As soon as it's heads up, both players know they have at least secured 6m. Therefore, when playing heads up, you basically play for 6.1m. He celebrated when 3rd place guy got eliminated, because it meant that he would get 6m at least.
