Magikarp IS the highest level pokemon you can encounter in any game in the series from what I remember. I think in that situation you can even find one at level 100.

Hmm, seeing Eternatus randomly sticking out of the tree made me wonder- what if it was an actual game mechanic where Eternatus hands would randomly emerge from trees (and... buildings?) and attack you? granted, they could have given Eternamax Eternatus a better idle animation... the stiffness creeps me out

I'm guessing what is happening at the end is that magicarp's model is being stretched onto the skeleton used to animate the legendarys. The same thing happens in smash Bros if you swap moves/animations around.

im pretty sure most games that have character customization have to have cutscenes with your character not be pre rendered, it explains why the first cutscene in the slumbering weald doesn't have the magikarp but the eternamax eternatus one does, the slumbering weald one is before you can change your character's hairstyle
