We don't have F35s .. yet. "Poland concluded its fighter acquisition program with the signing of a Letter of Offer and Acceptance (LOA) between the U.S. and Polish governments on Jan. 31, 2020, for 32 F-35A Conventional Take Off and Landing (CTOL) variant jets with initial deliveries beginning in 2024 and in-country deliveries in 2026."

Yeap, the Russians only understand one language - brutal force and determination, so we cannot leave such situations unanswered and that is what sending fighters is for. I won't be surprised if our planes violate the airspace with the Königsberg Oblast, because you can't talk to the Russians. A similar situation occurred probably a year ago, when a Belarusian Mi-24 violated the border near Białowieża (a quite wild area on the Polish-Belarusian border, where the oldest forest in Europe is located). A few days later, our helicopters also entered Belarus, which indicates that Belarusians are poor people, terrorized by a crazy pro-Russian dictator. I do not feel hatred towards Belarusians as a nation, but compassion. Returning to Russia - when Columbus reached America, we were starting to fight the first of 18 wars with the (then) Grand Duchy of Moscow. Russians cannot be calm if they do not feel threatened. They need to be shown strength. For some reason, the British also understand this - I remember on the first day of the Russian-Ukrainian war I watched on ADSB as a British Eurofighter flew through our airspace at high speed and turned back close to our border with the Königsberg District. I bet that the Russian radar personnel there were full of fear. That's why it's great that so many American troops are here. I always wave when I see American and other NATO troops on the highway. The Russians hate you, but they are also afraid of you like the devil is afraid of holy water. Your presence here is the only way to maintain an order that is also beneficial to you after the Cold War.

Britain & Russia have a long history of combat - also they set off nerve gas in one of our cities a few years back ( and there was an incident involving the same agent not long after ) & relations understandably plummeted. We've guaranteed ( and been basing in ) one of the Baltic states for quite a few years although I can't remember which so this has been building ( plus our govt wants to show they're still relevant after a couple of decades of wrecking about anything they touch ). The Russians as people have been terrorised by their own government for as long as I can remember any history, which of course doesn't excuse any personal actions but you have to know what you're dealing with. It's been educational watching Russia's image being dismantled in the last couple of years - if only their own people could see. I consider Belarus under occupation, honestly. I was born in, and remember the Cold war ( was just about old enough to remember the dire situation in the early 80s ) - what's developing now is heartbreaking.

Poland has seen the movie before, a nonaggression pact signed in 1939, August, with Stalin, proved neither Germany nor Russia were concerned with their neighbors security. Pull your head out of whatever displacement material and location as Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, and Finland also knows what this looks like. The Denmark and Belgium have joined with support packages, simply there is open war in Eastern Europe with no stable player in the mix and a madman.

Unnecessary false fear. Russians are stupid....but not that stupid. Russia will never use nukes unless its own territory is invaded and at risk of collapse. Any other situation means they get retaliatory nukes and they know that. Use your brain for two seconds.

I feel the same when it comes to the nuke threats. Countries want nukes not so they can use them, but just to have the prestige of having them. putin waving nukes around is just his way of saying "im big and scary rarrr. see my roar, so scary.. rarrr!" There's nothing stopping the EU to expand their airspace to cover Ukraine. It doesn't violate any international treaty that I'm aware of, or any treaty that Russia could contest, especially if Ukraine supports the notion that its sovereign airspace happily complies with the rest of the EU's regs. And since NATO is the EU's military protectorate... Do you see where I'm going here? Has this scenario even been considered? Please let me know.

With a 2 minute-15 minute scramble time a fighter a/c will never get to intercept a strategic ballistic missile in the air...If they are in CAP then they might get to a medium altitude cruise missile...if the CM is doing a real low terrain following then practically it is very low probability of intercept... SO guys this is just a show of force for public consumption, any fighter pilot who did QRA and had BVR training knows this...

The Turds have been violating Greek airspace for decades but thanks to our "good" NATO allies asking us not to escalate we have lost dozens of pilots. Turdkey is using the NATO umbrella to violate another NATO members airspace. If we were to act in every violation of our airspace there would be no NATO's eastern flank and they would have lost all their jets. Now US is giving them new jets and upgrades for their older ones so that they can violate our airspace more efficiently.
