Polar has just announced the Polar Vantage V v2, a flagship running watch that follows up on the Vantage V and the Grit X. The V2 incorporates all the best features of those two watches while shedding weight and thickness. The new watch still maintains great battery life and GPS accuracy, and it also includes some of Polar’s newest features aimed at helping you understand how well your body is absorbing and improving from your training.
Disclosures: a beta unit version of the Polar Vantage V2 was provided to me for the purpose of review. I did not have to pay for it, but no one is paying me to make this video or to use this watch. No one will get a chance to review my footage or my thoughts before this video goes up on youtube.
Other devices were required to perform the testing in this video. Some were provided to me for purpose of review. Some were purchased with my own money. No one paid me to use any of these reference products in this video.

I'm just starting in the walking and running activities and I'm looking for a watch that helps me on monitoring and improving. Definitely I see Polar is the best in focusing in exactly that. Great video, very useful and well done

Great review, can you please answer one quick question? Separate from the HR zone lock, can you set a specific heart rate for runs that will cause an alert to go off - for example a max MAF heart rate? (You didn't mention it in the review and I can't find it in the instruction manual or on the web.)

Is 8:20 min/mi your MAF pace? Can you update your MAF training progress? Just wondering where you are at and how you are incorporating any speed work. Thanks.

Beautiful watch! Very cool that it gives you the option to use the touch screen or the buttons. I really love that I can store music on the watch I currently use. Hopefully Polar offers a product with this feature at some point.

Thanks much for the awesome review! I also have a V2 but can't get accurate data once its paired to the Wahoo Tickr-x. Is this because the Tickr-x also tracks motion in addition to HR?

Thanks for this great video. I would like to ask a quick question. I have an arrhythmia and have been on beta blockers for twenty years. According to the advice of my cardiologist, I practice running regularly, it helped me a lot and I was able to reduce my medication always according to my doctor's advice. For a complete follow-up of the shape and the heart, you recommend which watch? A Vantage V2 or a 745 for example? Hello from Germany ^^

Awesome review as always man! I found the same Heart Rate spikes in my testing of the Vantage V2. It's strange because generally the HR data was pretty solid until it would just randomly shoot to 180BPM for no reason.
@kofuzi
@kofuzi 3 жыл бұрын
For me, I think the spikes are fit-related. No watch stays in place for me, although the band on the v2 seems to hold the watch in place a bit better, along with the lighter weight

Nice review! Do you think the GPS on the Vantage V2 is better than or at the level/quality like Vantage V? Just got my Vantage V on outlet sale for $240 and then this came out. The new functions seems quite attractive.

Hopefully they release some of those updates to the Grit X, if not maybe I switch to Coros, they show us that watches can keep been update by firmware.

I thought the same. There is almost 0 % chance that Polar updates their terrible navigation experience earlier than Coros will updates their metrics or some new tests or any training focus staff.

The watch looks great and I really like how Polar presents data. For $499, the only thing lacking for me is on-board music storage as I typically do not run with my phone. If Polar came out with ANY options with music (ideally Spotify syncing), I would probably switch from Garmin.

I suppose, on the other hand, that Garmin could improve their data analytics to compete with better with Polar Flow. I have not been overly impressed with Garmin Connect.....it's ok but could use more options to parse the data, better UI, etc.

Is the 'current pace' while running stable and easy to maintain a current pace or does it jump about. I'm thinking of ditching my Garmin FR935 mainly for the polar flow data.

Yo Mike. Nice to see an updated Vantage from Polar! I was recently considering the Whoop strap 3.0 to give me a better idea of "how ready you are to perform as an athlete" which is I think what you said. Ultimately I balked at the prospect of shelling out $360 per year for that privilege. Luckily, it seems like the Vantage would be a better investment as a single wearable solution rather than keeping my old Garmin and also using a Whoop. Any thoughts on that?

I think that polar should allow when you plan a phassed target to skip a planned step if u want to. Say i fell tired and don't want to do all 5 repeat for instance instead for waiting all the phases to complete. That's sad,the older models had that feature. What do u think Mike?maybe i 'm doing it the wrong way plz advice if this is possible. Thanks!keep up the great videos!!👍

This might sound stupid but does anyone feel that there is starting to become too many features for your needs? Data is cool/interesting but going back to when I first started running there was none of that. I’m starting to feel like the watch is wearing me if that makes any sense. Some cog in this machine.
@mrinnovator11

Interesting viewpoint. I think that what polar have done is brilliant but it’s been a slow process. They’ve provided a comprehensive system allowing you to get everything you need with their produce. Whereas before training sessions would have to be done along side other apps and systems for me. Now I can get all of it in one place. I like the recovery feature which I find fairly accurate. However in support of your statement it can be a little overwhelming when you have so many suggestions going on but you got your own way of doing things. I guess the sentiment could seem that way, when it’s directing you instead of the other way round.
