I had an 800 storm growing up ahhhhhh sooo many memories.
@kinkypin4 жыл бұрын
I had one of these about 22 years ago, it was a real hot-rod-sled. -93 Storm 750 with a -94 Storm 800 engine and -94 hood, Öhlins gas-shocks all around, 25mm Challenger fullblock, Cobra winsdshield. If I remember correctly the cylinders were so called "hurricane ported" and had Wiseco forged pistons, Delta V-Force III reeds and bored out carburetors. Even the primary and secondary clutches were lightened and balanced with clutch-kits. It was a real beast with insane throttle response but sadly it grenaded on me on a lake going wide open throttle. One of the cylinders locked up and broke a rod that broke the whole engine block, everything was shattered into small pieces. The combination of a young rider trying to push the sled to the limit when the previous owner had ran it with AAEN triple pipes (that he sold separately) was just to much for this engine, but it was sure fun as long as it lasted... //Daniel from Sweden

I absolutely love all 3 of those epic sleds. They are so awesome and sound amazing. New tech won't relive that classic sound/smell. Just amazing. Got a Q for you though as you're good at fixing old sleds.. I recently got a Polaris 96' Indy XLT SKS 600 triple. Guy I bought it from said it needed carb rebuild and it was sitting in storage a long time. I tried myself.... didn't work. Took to a shop and they 'fixed' her. When I went to pick her up, they cold started it no problem (I think cold anyway) and then we load it onto my truck and I take her back to my shop. She sat there for a week or so. Tried cold starting one day. She ran for a minute or two then back fired a few times and ended up quitting. Couldn't get it going again. Replaced all the spark plugs and fuel and she still not turning over. Suggestions for next step? As far as I know shop did a carb rebuild and that's it.

@@toddclyne3493 That's alright, I wasn't trying to be condescending. One thing I didn't do is spray fuel into the cylinders to try to fire it up and see if she runs to check if it's a bad line or injector. Besides that, I'm not sure what it could be. My uncle used to be awesome at fixing old sleds but old age has run him in these days, he was my only go-to for sled advice. She DID fire up after I got her back into my shop, but she backfired a few times then quit.... then never started again. That's when I put in new plugs since I think they got fowled.
