I have a 1996 SLT 780 and the MFD quit working on the way out to Lake Lavon for a test drive. The CDI box is mounted vertically with 3 7/16" bolts. Replacing the fuse resolved the problem. Thanks for all of your videos. Great Job!!

This video might be 7+ years old but i thought my fuse was fine, cleaned up my board and connections still didnt work, switched the fuse just now and all is right with the universe👍😁 always check the easy stuff first! For being 20+ years old everyone still wants to ride the stx over the newer seadoo, its a fun machine👌

I recently purchased a used 94 Polaris SLT 750. The previous owner had added a small depth finder for fishing. About half an hour in to my first ride, I lost both the MFD and the depth finder. The power for the depth finder is soldered into the red and black of the MFD. I checked the solder points and they are good. I checked the wire before and after the solders with an ohm meter and get 12 volts at both. I checked the fuse as you suggested and tested the fuse and it's good.

This video directed me in the proper area. the fuse was good, but excessive corrosion on the fuse terminal cause MFD failure.

I have a 2002 Polaris Freedom 750cc. It will start up and idle no problem every single time you hit that start button, however, after you run it in the water for more than a few minutes (I guess after it heats up a little) it chokes down when you try to give it throttle. After it chokes down and shuts off, I can start it right back up immediately, and it will idle all day long. This problem has gradually gotten worse over the months, and there is a lot more to it.

@mistermamaluigi Yes, that is not the right thing to do, and could cause a fire. It does work just the same. A fuse is designed to burn out first, and prevent system damage.

Thanks for the reply. Ive kept an eye out on ebay for awhile now but nothing has come up. I'm a car guy, so I have tools and some experience but I'm out of my element on where to start on an electrical repair like that.

He should have not had the depth finder on there at all. If that fuse is good. I am not sure what yo think.

I have a 1996 SLT 780 Jet-Ski. The Digital Clock LCDs or LEDs (don't know what is the technology) work on my MFD but there is nothing else that is displayed. Pressing the MODE and/or SET buttons do not have any affect on the display. If my problem is the fuse, then the MFD would not even display the time, right? It is most likely the MFD, I guess. Last year it displayed some things but this year only the time. I reseated the connectors but that resulted in no improvement. Do you think that it is a bad MFD or something else? Are new MFDs available - I saw used ones on eBay for about $250. Those MFDs may not be a good buy since they are old and used. Can I run the Jet-Ski without the MFD if it is sent out for repair? My 1996 Polaris 1050 CDI box does not look like the one you picture. My top comes off in 2 pieces & has 8 screws. Didn't see any fuses under the left side. Before I take off right side ( it's difficult to remove) is the 1/4 amp fuse in there?

Not sure if u can help or not. I got 97 slx 785 pro. I took it out on the water yesterday. Started up fine and ran for about 20 min. Parked it and let it sit. Went to jump back on it but it wouldn't run. It starts for a second then stalls out. I tried this for a while with the same results. So I gave up on it. Came back to it a couple hrs later and it started right up. Drove great again for 20 min or so. Shit it off and then it started doing the same thing. Seems like it starts fine when cold and not when engine is warm. Any suggestions? Thanks.

I can use my MFD just fine after I put the fuse in I change it with the mode button but my fuel gauge my MPH doesn’t work they are they reading 000 won’t tell me how fast I’m doing my RPM works as well.. if you could point me in the right direction I would appreciate it thank you

Hi frisco...I have a 97 Polaris Hurricane. Went to change the fuse and Terminal board fell apart in my hand. found compatible board and slowly carefully installed with friend. I have a 99 polaris slth 700 twin and the mfd keeps blinking the word fuel and the red indicator light is flashing. It acts as if it's in limp mode cause itll only go up too about 2400 rpms and then cut out and try to die. What could cause this issue? Any help is greatly appreciated

There is a way to fix it, but it is very hard. You have to cut it apart. I would try to find one on Ebay.

hey, I have an issue with my 2001 polaris slx 1200 where the battery dies when its sitting and not running. When I use the jetski the battery is fine. my display stays on and never shuts off is that normal?

I have a problem with the mfi intermittently going blank while riding and losing performance. When this happens, I can only go at idle speed. After unhooking and hooking up battery, I can sometimes get the mfi to come on and the ski then runs great at full power again. I did notice my battery was very low on fluid maybe 1/3 of where the fluid level should be. Could this somehow allow the ski to fire up but somehow lose power to run the instruments? I'm assuming the mfi going out and the loss of performance is some type of safety mode.

Every time I try to put a new fuse in it burns up instantly. Assuming its grounded somewhere, any suggestions?

(continuted from below) I cut the red wire and routed it directly to the battery. I did the same thing with the black and still nothing. To add to the mystery, the LED that lights the screen of the depth finder is permanently, dimly on, even though I cannnot get it to turn on. The only way to make it stop is to unplug it. I'm all out of ideas. Any suggestions?

local repair shop suggested .5 amp fuse instead of the .25, I replaced no problem now.

Had the same result from a different cause... 1994 sl750 Fuji, I just bought this ski for a couple hundred dollars, no start, no display... Just dead. A BR/y wire laying under the engine unhooked, I have no idea what it is or where it's suppose to be but when grounded the ski will crank and the display comes on. Do you have any idea what this wire is? I can't find a wiring diagram anywhere. Any help is much appreciated.

So - i have a 1997 polaris sltx. My MFD is working but the speedometer is not really working at all. Also - its as if the display is dying.. lying it fades in and out. My oil gauge and fuel gauge works well, even though some of the bars fade out as well - but i am just curious as to if you still think its the fuse box or if it is something else? I replaced it with a 1/4 amp and it burned out immediately. I then tried it with a 3amp and again, it burned out immediately. I used a 3 because that's what I took out of it. What would the problem be if it burned out both of them?

I have a Polaris1996 SLX780 that flooded. After the exhaust manifold is a blue muffler. I took off the rubber hose and inside the muffler is black oil. Do I drain that out or leave it?

But it kills the battery in about 3 hours? Thanks for responding:)

Sounds like you need to rebuild the fuel system. Search greenhulk and join their forum. You are looking at some time to get it right.

Well I wasn't really looking to solve this problem but I guess I'll be looking at that fuse cuz mine don't work has anybody ever had their electric box get hot like it short out and draining the battery

I had the same problem. Just picked up a SLX 780 and was going through it. Problem solved. However, not sure how the CDI mounts on top of the battery. It was just hanging free in the ski. Any chance you can post a video, or some pics of what it should look like? Thanks in advance!
