Polaris Ranger 900 | Transmission Fluid Change

Changing transmission/rear diff fluid on my 2013 Polaris Ranger 900. Easy job that should be done to prolong the life of your Ranger.
Things that might help with a project like this:

I definitely need to do a full service on my 2 Polaris atv’s I have had them for 14 years and havnt had any major issues with them I have only done regular service to them

We have a Sportsman 500. I believe a 2002. It has had nothing done but oil changes and air filters. It keeps going and going but it should have a bunch of maintenance done to it.

I just use ATF +4 Synthetic , it's basically the same thing ..... just like Demand Drive Fluid is basically Mobil 424 !!

Why take the risk. Buy what Polaris recommends and be safe. I order mine on Amazon and it's at my door in two days. No hassle and I know I am using stuff that works.

@@mossman381 Nahhh , no risk at all & I've been doing it for years with never any problem !! Polaris RECOMMENDS their over priced fluids because it makes them a ton of money to contract with other companies to put their oil in those fancy pretty bottles !! The funny thing is that if you buy a new Polaris with Hilliard drive components , Hilliard contracts with Mobil to supply them the 424 to put in there before it leaves their plant to go to Polaris for assembly . Mobil 424 and Demand Drive both have a Climb Viscosity point of 9.3 -9.6 at 100 degrees F. They are Identical ... as is the Trans Oil specs. for ATF+4 & their AGL !! All about the Benjamins my Friend !! Good Video tho. , God Speed from one Mechanic to another , be safe !!

Not worried about it. If there was big pieces then I might worry. I will only buy Polaris. The Ranger 900 is the best Ranger Polaris has built. Proven over the years. Are they perfect? No, but you aren't going to find a perfect atv/utv.

Just remember to ALWAYS take the fill plug off first! If you drain it first and cant get the fill plug out….you’re stuck!

I have heard the horror stories about plugs on these Rangers not coming out but have yet to have that problem. I almost feel like people are using the wrong sockets or allen wrenches and causing those problems. I always make sure the wrenches fit nice and snug on the plug.

That is the rear differential not the transmission

On the 900 the diff and trans are one.

It would have been a helpful video if you had known things like what size Allen wrench , how much fluid & what the toque value is . Completely Usless video.

Get off your lazy a$$ and look for some of that stuff. If you have a metric allen wrench set, you should have the right bit. Torque is easily looked up. Fluid is added until it runs out. I would get 3 quarts to be on the safe side.
