unscrewing the radius rods is genious….so much time saved....such a pain in the ass removing those bolts through the bulkhead....I will remember that when I do my 93 indy 440

It's definitely a time saver and maintains your sanity as well. :)

when i did the extra 10 swap, i elected to change everything, you will notice the sway bar is different in length. also the trailing arms will be different.
@StreetersGarage10 ай бұрын
Yes, it’s a little shorter but I never had an issue with it coming out of the arms.

Great explanation, thank you for posting the video. I got to see the very first production run of XC's at the Polaris factory in Roseau, MN, which was pretty cool.

No problem. Glad you liked it. I would love to get out to the factory for a tour.

Nice explanation of your swap. I like the idea of screwing the radius arms off of the ends, because they are a pain to remove. It's amazing how people cobble together things to make it work, you made the right move to replace that front end Streeter, looking forward to seeing the rest of the transition.

Thanks! I had some concerns when I saw that. I started to look at the bulkhead for any damage. Luckily the older sled can take a beating. Lol

How did you make sure the alignment was correct?
@StreetersGarage6 жыл бұрын
Haven’t done that yet. That will be in a future video once I do final assembly. Thanks for watching and please subscribe!

Will I need to upgrade to Xtra 10 in front of I do the back?
@StreetersGarage4 жыл бұрын
Not required. But I’d do it. I have a video on what’s required to do the front as well.

Good morning. Was wondering what kind of paint you used to do your springs? Powder coating to expensive for just 2springs! How long do they stay painted??
@StreetersGarage6 жыл бұрын
Hey Kevin. I used Rustoleum Enamel Paint for the springs. Great question on the durability. Not really sure at this point. I just painted them this week. But, the springs are easily replaced if needed. So If I need to I can find a set with the correct color and swap them out,

That's true.you never know what your going to find.My old super a random piece of pipe and there was a rag and duct tape wrapped around it and another piece of pipe around that for that back axle in the suspension.

That's crazy.

Thanks for the vid couple of questions if possible. I’m doing this swap on a 1995 500 classic ( evolved chassis ) and x10 of 1999 Indy 500. I have the radius rods and the shocks. Do you know if the trailing arms are the same? Just wondering why you used the old trailing arms, tie rods and sway bar being the x10 suspension was about 3” wider stance and slightly taller. If I don’t need to use those that’s great. How did the front end handle bumps etc... any issues riding, ditch bangin? Any info would be great thanks
@StreetersGarage3 жыл бұрын
There was no need to swap out the arms. They'll work with the longer radius rods. No issues in handling.
@briangulseth45644 жыл бұрын
what was the main reason for the swap better ride? this makes the front wider as well right?
@StreetersGarage4 жыл бұрын
Yes on both questions. The original skid was completely seized and a disaster. Wasn’t worth the money or investment. If the sled was going to be all original, I would have saved it.
@briangulseth45644 жыл бұрын
@@StreetersGarage the sway bar won't come out of the trailing arm? Will it put to.much pressure on the main mount bolt for the trailer arm? Do you need a spacer behind it? Sorry for a the questions. I got a front suspension from a 97 xlt gonna put it on my 1990 indy this should work right?
@StreetersGarage4 жыл бұрын
No issues with the stock sway bar. It still fits into the bushings in the trailing arms and it’s hasn’t fallen out yet.
@StreetersGarage4 жыл бұрын
As long as it’s an xtra10 you’ll be fine

What do you gain in travel ? About 2 " ?
@StreetersGarage6 жыл бұрын
Approximately and a wider stance. From about 38” to 41”
@MBTUE6 жыл бұрын
I guess you'll have to refer to the Indy trail manual to do the alignment ? It's gona be soooo smooth ......

That and 1500mg of Advil will make it ride like a Cadillac!

Thanks. The sled suffered from years of neglect before I found it.
