You really need to mod the storm to make them really go. My cousin had one with full slp exhaust it was a fast loud sled.

@@dakotaburk4576 lol your full of it. Storm was way behind the Zrt. But can be woke up. As stated I have had and many friends had storms they are extremely heavy and slow. Btw beat many with my lil 600 running their class and I was 260lbs. None of these sleds hold a chance against properly tuned srx though it's a fact. Last ice race I attended top speed of day was girl on srx. Their were a bunch of very high end all out race turbo 4 strokes there too.

few tips : ..jetting for these sleds are factory rich and prolly the best set up .the more u chomp on it the clearer the response will be .. these sled didnt like mid range putin around.. thy wanna be wide open hitting 8700 rpms where thy make the most power and when u use the heat gun ..hit the side walls on the cylinders. get an accurate reading . great vid man .

First off thanks for adding to the conversation. Secondly thank you for the tips. The jetting in this sled was set up (according to the chart in the service manual) for 4,000ft at 0-20 degrees Fahrenheit. I was riding it at 6000 feet in about 40°F. As you can imagine it was very rich. This was the jetting that was in the sled when I bought it. I figured it would be a good safe place to start. My next rides I will slowly start to lean out the main jet. I feel like the sleds a lot faster than it could be right now. stay tuned for an update video once the snow starts to fly.

Also if you read the “high altitude calibration” section of the service manual. It states that I need to make some gearing and clutching changes to really take advantage of all she’s got at 6,000ft

That XSR is 100mph sled for sure. On a side note, I know the 700 is oil injected but a little feathering on the throttle as you come down in rpm wont hurt anything. If you cut the throttle immediately then the carb only flows as much fuel as the idle circuit can handle. So low fuel flow means low oil flow because two stroke. Just a little something to help a 20 year old sled along. Its super clean and im Jealous!

Just to add some confusion... XSR 700 is a Motorcycle SRX 700 is a sled (blue head) SXR 700 is a sled(Red head) SX 700 is a sled PSR-SX700 is a keyboard Dang it Yamaha!!! Want to guess who makes the engine in the 2005 corolla XRS? Lol

Reading this comment section....and wow. An XLT 600 is in no way, shape or form a match for an SRX 700. There's probably a 35hp difference between these two. Even an SRX 600 would lay the smack down on an old XLT 600. I mean...they didn't even have power valves or triple pipes on that model.

Back in my drag race and radar run days if srx showed up if had 700-1000 just put back on trailer you lost. Buddy worked for Yamaha dealer and had an srx for stock and mod classes. His stock just clutching and gearing hit almost 115mph in 1000ft

Totally different class of sled. I had an XLT and it was great, but then bought a ZRT 600, the triple triples like the F3, ZRT, and maybe the XCR? were in another class from the XLT.

That XLT should be able to keep up... Needs maintenance, then it will keep up and reach 100. Nice sleds those 2 are my favorite triples 😁 Triple fact - Triples are very fuel efficient, very great on fuel compared to a twin, the Triple will out perform a twin when it comes to fuel efficiency and economy

@@darylhomegren294301 SX-R 700, actually tried my cousins 94 storm 800 he did well with his machine while I had a 92 Sport SKS 440Fan hand-me-down. Nowadays I'm happy with a 340, 380 even a 250 😁 easier to work on

@@darylhomegren2943 ya and don't get anywhere fast on the storm either lol. My zrts were good on gas but I had a 98 Formula 3 700 skidoo and wow. Not fastest thing but went riding with buddies they stopped and topped off. Later they were on E so stop again I still had over half nobody could believe it. We figured it out I got 24mpg

I loved my old XLT, I had it when I was a kid riding with my friends, while they had indy 500's. As a 13 year old kid in the 90s and 00s, I got it up to 90 mph

rule of thumb if you ride in warm temps they get doggie you need to jet i can not remember if you jetted down i think you did for warm weather and jetted up for cold i left mine for cold weather my 800 zrt was a rocket! from 10 above to -20 at minus below zero that thing was wicked fast!

Must be high altitude for a California mountain lake to be still frozen. That also explains the fat jetting on the xlt sks Also more of a fair fight if the xlt was a short track and had a set of triple pipes,after that it still gives up 103cc and case reed induction to the Yami.

Yes sir I live in Lake Tahoe and we ride an elevation of 6-9k and usually above freezing temps.

@@Polaris91rxl I can’t speak for the XLT because it’s not mine. And the owner hasn’t done anything to it since this video. But my sled was also a little boggy on the top end. I discovered it was jetted for much lower elevations in colder temperatures than where I run it. This caused it to be very rich. So far I’ve dropped two main jet sizes. With favorable improvement.

Comparing an SRX700 to an XLT600 is like comparing a Mclaren to a base model Chevy Aveo. I had a 95 XLT600sp from 97-02 Looked good but it was a gutless pig. Even with the psi pipes I put on it in 2000 it still was slow lol. I sold it for a 98 SRX700 back in 2002 ( still have it) absolutely no comparison in any segment the SRX absolutely destroys the XLT in every segment.

Xlt vs srx is a good match but not with this track on xlt and the reverse on it kill the power by 15 %

@@zalmanfans1334 😂 fair enough. Haha. I had a Polaris storm before this SRX. I like the SRX a lot more. I’m a total Polaris fan boy as well. All the other sleds on my channel are Polaris.
