Hacking an Instax wide camera as a back for the Polaroid Land 100. Doing a CLA on the Mamiya 105mm f3.5 seiko shutter. Making a ground glass. Trying out the instax film back. Installing the Zess rangerfinder from a Polaroid 250.
Here is the link to the duo TLR blog post about the use of the Mamiya 105mm f3.5.

This is basically building a new camera and rebuilding a shutter. Lots and lots of work. Loved the video and the details of the description but I don't really see the advantage to doing this on a polaroid rather than buying a better camera for the instax film. Great job with the work and the video

Thanks. I agree, except that the "better camera for Instax film" doesn't really exist. The only thing that comes close is the RF-70 which is so close to perfect, except for the crappy lens they put in (and therefore the price doesn't work for me).

I love this series you are doing! I really enjoy how precise you are you are with this as well. I shoot a lot of Instax Wide and I would love a camera like this, with the old glass and manual shutter combined with the Instax film.

I would also love a camera like this especially with some system to focus :(. Thanks for watching.

Glass cutting tip, float something like white spirits or paraffin with a brush over where you want to cut before cutting. I don't know why it works better, but it does: Regards, Matthew

@@RotarySMP Yes I did enjoy it, thank you! I saw other videos with people attempting the same thing, but you take it so much further. So many great ideas and techniques. Looking forward to more videos about your cameras! Cheers from Prague, CZ

Growing up in Wisconsin in the early 1980s, we got syndicated reruns of the original Paul Hogan Show. There's a sequence where he makes toast by nailing a slice of bread to the wall and taking a propane torch to it which is eerily similar to how you extracted carborundum for lapping. EERILY SIMILAR.

Ready für the Olympic Games! You’ve got the torch and your 1st shot of the Olympic Rings are awesome. Is it the Winter games in Vienna at that time of the year? Good job may, even if the camera is as blind as a Mexican bat for the time being! There is at least some CNC machining coming on episode 4! :)

As with all the other majors of the camera industry, RotarySMP Inc debuts its high end professional camera in time for the Toyko Olympics. C/N/O/P are all engulfed in corporate panic, as the new player eats their lunch :)

The biggest issue most people have when scoring glass is not pressing hard enough. You want a good solid score in one pass. A light score will cause issues.

Thanks for that. I'll try pushing harder.

you can drill a new hole next to to original infinity hole, then you can cheat the rangefinder
@RotarySMP
@RotarySMP 4 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching. I've seen various hacks for the range finder, but my first issue is to move the lens back closer to the body, so that it can go to infinity. Once the lens is correctly located, I have been thinking of going all in and maybe making a replacement cam, so that the Rangefinder is accurate for the shorter 105mm lens across it's entire range.

@@johnbrewer318 Thanks John. It has been both fun and frustrating to use. The film kick out is pretty flakey, the back latch pops open, the lens shutter has kind of gummed up again. But it has shot some cool photos. I need to make another one... better.
