Oh definitely. Nevermind all of the rusted body panels, the fuel supply situation, the issues with the tank itself, the starter, the brakes, the leaking radiator, and everything else...😂😂😂 I'm just playing bud. It would be a nice project for someone to take on to repair all of the rust, replace the tank, overhaul the braking system, the T-tops, and rock it around. I know that I'd pimp it.

Another awesome revive and drive! That ol girl deserves some love. New starter, tighten up the front end, carb, clean tank etc. I think it can be made into a pretty reliable cruising machine. Reminds me of a whole lot of my 1976 Olds 442 Anniversary Edition, bought it off my sister and brother-in-law and South Florida and drove it to Texas. It was a pretty good car lasted quite a while and then I sold it to another brother-in-law that had moved to Texas from Florida. The 400 in that car sounds pretty good! It's amazing how many of these old cars are still around.😊

I tell you what - there's nothing like completing a journey in a car that likes throwing you a curve ball every few miles. The sense of satisfaction in getting the beast to where you want to go under its own steam (literally in this case too!) is one that is hard to replicate.....and it gives you some great stories to tell and relive as well. Good on you both for persevering and letting the Ponty prove herself once she cleared her throat, stretched and could get down to business after the expected repairs of her doing that. All the best

Always had those big cars. Last one was 1979 Lincoln town car. As long as you’re not blind, you don’t need “road feel”. Just don’t over drive the car. (Don’t go around curves like an Indy car). And those cars could take a beating. I got hit in a 1965 ford wagon while sitting at a red light, behind a tractor trailer. The guy who hit me was doing 60mph in the rain and never hit his brakes. He put a big dent in the back of my car, yet I drove it home. (He had a 1972 Buick Rivera.) he didn’t. Nowadays, a low speed impact will total a vehicle!

I had a '76 SJ in high school in the late 80's. Back then, it was just an old car, but now, I'd love to have it back. I have never owned or driven another car that handled like that one. In the quarter mile, with 3.08 gears, a bicycle could outrun me, but once I hit 50 or 55, it was on! 100MPH was its favorite cruising speed. If he's still alive, there is a Kentucky State Trooper still looking for me. ;-)

Entertaining video: I acquired one very similar in mid-eighties with the low compression 350 2bbl Pontiac V8, Turbo 400 trans. and like 2.73 rear axle ratio. It didn't have much power, but it did sail down the interstate. I drove it to FL from NY and back, and never got more than 12 mpg, was the next to last year of the nice mid-sized GM body on frame. Wish I still had it as the old car guys are grabbing them up for the nostalgic factor, very cool rugged old ride.

The steering wheel is the first input from the driver. The last place that steering motion leaves is the idler arm. So it carries the most stress, and consequently the most wear. The lion's share of steering problems can be corrected by replacing the idler arm.

I have never seen a Grand Prix with T tops very cool. My dad has a late 70s Grand Prix with a 400 when i has a kid. My grandfather used to drive it and spin the tires and get all embarrassed about it. Lmao. Cool episode it brought up good memories. Thank you guys.

I am loving this. Finding a car, thinking I can flip this, then um, well, I liked it so much, I am keeping it. No wonder I have 6 cars. No Dalton, I am not talking about you, I am talking about me. Don't you feel just a little sense of accomplishment when you get home? Just a little? LOL Congrats on the Pontiac, a great find. Do a basic fix 'er up and add her to the family, she deserves it. If not, call me first. LOL Great Vid Dalton, you never disappoint!!!

My older brother had one of these...Get this, he wasn't a great mechanic, just broke like the rest of us working men, but his rear U joint went out on this car, he duct taped it back to the pinion, and drove it home...Talk about sketchy, but it made it home...lmao...I couldn't believe it, but I watched him do it, against all better judgement, and drove home. His was maroon with red interior. Now if I were to try something that insane...it would never work. I chalk it off to the looney tunes theory, you can walk on air until you read the law of gravity...lol. I say fix it up, it's really a nice car that deserves a new life, even if you sell it.
