Anyone who says a retractable baton ain’t good for self defense : Has never been hit by one ; or used one to break the hand of a knife wielding maniac . I’ve experienced both . These batons are devastating in the hands of an experienced fighter.

One of the only great things Jared has taught. Prioritize the hands in a law enforcement situation. Hands are the gateway to any other escalation.

Absolutely --- and more baton videos with this level of thoughtful consideration for lawful use and not just some action packed fantasy reel of improbable moves? We like that too. Thank you so much for watching. Hope you are subscribed to the channel!

Hello. I am Korean, and you have probably come to Korea for education or filming. I remember you appearing in some Korean KZfaq videos. Now, indiscriminate attacks using weapons are frequently occurring in Korea. I decided to train the expandable baton. Also, I was lucky enough to buy Bonowi's training DVD that you appeared on. I have a question. Video from expandable baton manufacturers teaches me to put my right foot behind me. However, Korean users put their right foot forward and put their hands holding the baton forward as well. I think this is influenced by other martial arts. If I had to deal with a guy with a knife, which stance guarantees a higher survival rate? This has been my concern for the past month. Can you give me some advice if you are interested in this question? Have a nice day.

I have the same question as well. I think if your right foot is facing forward while holding the baton, thats a southpaw stance. It really depends om wats your preferred stance.

My cousin was a deputy. One time I wanted to test how good the baton was and what it felt like to get hit. I told him you strike me in the legs at 20% as I'm coming in to grab you and if I reach you then the scenario is over. Well he struck me in the legs at 20% and moved so every time I try to step forward he kept hitting me. I think I took about 5 strikes before I was like okay I'm done.

I dunno... I don't see many officers getting too into the proper use of their batons. Between a martially underdeveloped "'I'll just taze his ass" attitude that seems to be common among cops/gizmo-loving American tactical types,, and a tense legal environment, most cops will continue to just wrestle and point guns around

There MUCH MUCH MUCH better ... dont forget to remind them of the weak points in the solo standing hold ... and demonstrate them ON them ... wrestling mats help for this ... once they have had it done to them a few times they will start to look for the signs it is happening as well ... you cant stop a hold if you dont know how to break it ... tech them how to make it and break it ...

@@ApertureFightFocused considering I did my 10 years as a scout sniper infiltrator for Cdn and USA forces in desert storm ... I know the difference between good information and poor information ... . personally I prefer to see training that takes into account the fact no scene is static they are all dynamic ... but then I am also a proponent of military styled firearms training for all gun owners households ... to remove the I didnt know it was loaded excuse .. I do mean the household ... kids and all ...
