Carnage (Slang) ‘Meaning’ - Any chaotic situation
Context - Ordinary fans, Families, women and children have a right to leave the stadium safely, without the fear of being in the middle of a confrontation between hundreds of fans.
On this occassion, they couldn’t.
There’s absolutely nothing wrong with fans singing at each other and taunting each other, its part of the atmosphere and modern game. Obviously. This is enjoyed within the confines of the stadium match experience and the location is well controlled.
When this ‘banter’ happens at a flash point area on leaving the ground, in a confined space, this harmless atmosphere, quickly turns hostile… and it did. There was nothing friendly with the exchange and the situation was one stop away from a full on battle.
Several police horses were used to separate fans and in particular, rode into Newcastle fans to disperse them then the Chelsea fans. One was using his baton as he did! Some of these horses were clearly startled and were off balance. A couple were clearly distressed and ‘rearing’. I was there and up close to them. I could see.
Police officers on horses can be seen using batons to control the unfolding confrontation and some officers were wrestling with fans on the ground.
If you watched the video and thought that we just saw fans singing at each other and the title was clickbait, please feel free to watch it again and pay attention to what was a tually happening 👍🏻
In addition, this situation escalated into a full blown fight between around 20 or so fans just off Barrack Rd. I’ve been sent a video of it.

That's good Eddy as every club I can think of has it small pocket of idiots and I wouldn't give them any publicity as they pull our club and owners down .We Dont want them and the police will find the ones involved hopefully it's a society thing. It's been going on for decades but maybe touch wood no where near as bad as the 70s or 80s was when I was regular travelling to home and away games at that time at times not pleasant. Thankfully we have come along way since then with excellent stsdiums and more family oriented. Just take a few bad apples to let everyone down .We don't want our owners to see the idiots but to concentrate on the vast majority of good fans who follow the club.

The truth behind barrack road thing is that around 8 or so chelsea youths started goading then chasing 3 or 4 newcastle youths and the newcastle youths ran in the nearest pub and asked locals who were drinking socially for some help as there were more chelsea running up outside…..no hooligan crap or organised shit as used to happen years back…:

As a Chelsea fan we saw Newcastle fans absolutely jubilant and bursting with passionate emotion, especially given their victory, and they were taking it to us. An explosion of pent-up joy following the suppression of the Ashley years. It wasn't too scary or too violent especially by 1970's 80's or 90's standards. I know I am a dinosaur and probably wrong in most modern peoples eyes... but the extreme banter is what is it all about. Too much today football has become a sterile corporate family day out. I know that is what modern world wants and we see it away at the likes of Arsenal and West Ham... an indeed home at Stamford Bridge. St James Park yesterday was a blast. We lost the game but regained the energy and atmosphere of the old school . Fair play Barcodes honest brutal banter... St. James Park yesterday was scary electric and fantastic. Respect! I know many will think me wrong, but honestly what occured at St. James Park was so much better than than the toxic 'modern banter' you get from the likes of Liverpool and Celtic, booing the National Anthem, disrespecting Remembrance day singing vile chants about Queen Elizabeth's death and stadium disasters and plane crashes etc. Keep it up Toon! You are a credit to the Prem. I wish Chelsea could regain some of that raw support, some of that passion.

Big fan of the content Eddie but being clickbait is a bad look. There is no violence, no rioting. There are well trained police officers and security staff managing fans who are having a sing off. The police chose to ride their horses into the Geordie fans but it didn't look necessary imo.
