Why do people tell teachers to lock their doors cut the lights off and put students in a corner like the shooter just gonna be like *Ooohhh shittt lights off and door locked guess nobody's home*
@melaniegarcia31585 жыл бұрын
Yeah. Everyone knows the procedure so the shooter is probably more likely to go into that classroom because they know that there are people inside there
@coralcartoonz26965 жыл бұрын
Well there are some empty rooms that have no people in them and the lights are off so It can be confusing which rooms are turned off because no one’s using them and which rooms are turned off so that the shooter won’t see them. Also it’s harder to see in the dark, so that if a shooter does get in then there might be some kids who may be able to survived because the shooter just didn’t see them. Also, Let’s say that there is a shooter running around and then he hears the cops outside. If there are a bunch of cops right outside they are getting ready to break in then, the shooter will have to rush you know and he’s going to be in a hurry so he’s going to try to get as much people as possible as quick as possible and so he may just skip the rooms that are locked. Also if he does try to get in, the locked door will at least hold him back a little bit and the kids will hear and they can have a little bit of time to just get ready and prepared themselves to fight as a last resort.

@@coralcartoonz2696 first off idc if its Connor McGregor if a guy has an AK you're going to lose. Second 90% of the time the shooter attends that school so he knows the classrooms from the usually empty rooms. Third the cops aren't on site it takes 10 min for them to get to most schools and in that time a shooter can kill 50 ppl.

@Cole Johnson // Mate, I think you took too much time on that comment. This topic is about school shootings, and your list has some of them, but most are unrelated shootings, terrorist attacks and other type of incidents. By the way, the problem that USA has with school shootings is just incredible, there is at least one every 5 days (stopping in summer, were you have ‘campus’ shootings). The thing is that we only hear it when you have the word ‘mass’ before. I mean, there’s even a Wikipedia page with the list of school shootings in the United States. Just for you to know, the first one was in 1840...

What I've taken away from my middle school and high school lockdown drills was that no one cared. Not as much as they should. Most of us were hiding in these cramped corners and shoved against each other but we all were on our phones most of the time we spent there. We did nothing to actually participate in the staying silent part of it, heck, the police officer banging on the doors pointed out how he could hear us from the hallway almost every time we had one. It makes me wonder just how much this has become a societal norm for kids in our generation. We take it as a joke now, but my heart still pounds when I hear the sound of the alarm going off. It's depressing to think about, but necessary to know. Either way, we need more than just "hey, hide here, hope you don't get caught". That's what's made us more lenient towards these drills and the topic in general. We don't remember the reality of it.

Although I live in a semi safer area and school district, I still get worried because you never know who’s out there. I’ve seen every once in a while someone talking to themselves like crazy. You never know who’s out there. Even if the majority of the ppl in one place are friendly and nice, that one person who isn’t can cause lives to be taken... we need to change this somehow because otherwise soon I don’t think anything will be able to change ever.

Howdy, I'm from the future. It's 2019 in USA, year isn't even over yet and there's already 297 mass shootings and counting. Just let that sink in.

The fact that kids have to regularly go through these drills yet you can buy an ar15 at Walmart as long as you don't look like a methhead is so sad.

Jup. Few days ago another school shooting by a psycho 18-year old who bought two AR-15 style rifles the moment he turned 18. Fucking crazy.

That should do this at EVERY school in the us, who else like me feel scared going to school and witness a shooting?
@sara5angle4 жыл бұрын
All of these shootings have made my school make us wait 2 minutes before we go outside if we hear the fire alarm. The fact that we even have to worry about the possibility of getting shot is ridiculous. I wish I could move to a different country.

im only 12 and have been thro the 2019 shooting of stem and it was terrifying even 4 years later i still have trouble going to school and still need lots of therapy to get though it. the fact we need this stuff is just scary that any day someone could just shoot up a school and killing innocent children with no mercy

earlier this year there was this ordeal where a bunch of kids started sprinting and my first thought was to tell my mom i love her and run as fast as i could outside the school. turns out it was a tardy sweep but my first thought was a school shooting

I am so sorry for those who were in a school shooting and may all who died R.I.P. I am an 8th grader and I live in Denver, my principal emailed all families while I was in the hospital saying they received a threat for a school shooting in the school. I can’t even imagine what would happen if something actually went down.

If your in a bathroom when you’r school is having a shooting 1.lock all the bathroom stall doors 2.sit in one of the stall 3.pray 4.wait until it’s over 5.wait until you here a familiar voice (like a teacher, principal, counselor Hope this gets you prepared

I live in a very small town. This type of stuff never or rarely happens. In my opinion i think this drill in almost every school would be helpful just in case because at this times we never know what can happen
@DanAndHoe2 жыл бұрын
Yeah, size of the town doesn't seem to matter much. You just need a psycho with a gun and that can seemingly occur anywhere.
