Doesn't seem like it would be a dilemma at all. If you are operating your vehicle, you are always responsible for it, regardless of whether you're operating it remotely or not. If you are using autopilot, you are also responsible to ensure it is functioning properly and remain fully liable.

This was in a shopping center which is definitely private property, you can drive around with your lights off at night or pass through a stop sign without stopping. If you were to receive a ticket you can easily get it tossed out.

I guess if it would be the owner's responsibility completely then they would have to sign something that says you understand the risks and take responsibility for the car. But that brings into question if the car is marketed that this feature is viable on the road then is that in a form of misrepresenting a product if something is to happen? That is quite a deep dive into a lot of things that have to be thought about in a scenario like this. This is honestly a really good thought experiment that is going to have to be taken into consideration with how technology is evolving.

Sensors aren't flawless and will miss stop signs, yellow lines due to a dirty road, fail to yield to emergency vehicles, etc. There are a host of possible infractions that an autonomous vehicle can perform.

It's entirely staged. Cops don't have traffic jurisdiction in private parking lots. Stop signs there are not put there by the government. They are put there by the property owners. They are non-enforceable in terms of traffic citations and the police know it.
