You're a bad person, stop participating in the war on drugs. All drugs should be legal. The war on drugs is a failure, and criminalizing drug users and sellers does nothing to address problems associated with abuse. All drugs CAN be recreationally used in a responsible manner, and anyone who develops a problem should be given treatment, not jail. We could fund treatment from a tax on the drugs. It would also end the overdose epidemic as no one actively searches out fentanyl to buy when other opiates are available, as a former addict I can say first hand it is not even as euphoric as codiene, it'll just kill you infinitely faster. It would also prevent dangerous research chemicals being sold as LSD which is a totally safe drug. The war on drugs serves no purpose and only hurts society. I say this as someone who has been clean off heroin for 30 months. I know a lot of people who would still be here today if the war on drugs wasn't a thing. Their deaths lie at the hands of law enforcement and the law makers. Further a regulated (preferably state run) market for all drugs would keep the money in America instead of paying cartels, Taliban, China, or any other one of our geopolitical or strategic adversaries. Also it would drastically alter the way that communities interact with police, and make policing a respected profession among all members of the population, as they would be focusing on the crimes that actually harm people and helping society, as well as needing to invade someones privacy for a search much less. I think this would drastically improve the safety of traffic stops for the police. I don't think legality would encourage anyone to do something they wouldn't already, especially if there were incredibly strict regulations around advertising, which is why I want the state to run the dispensaries as that would enable them to operate at cost. This would additionally drastically reduce the price of drugs, which would accordingly drastically reduce the number people turning to crime to fund their addictions. Along with that, it would rapidly increase the quality of life for people currently suffering from addiction, by both increasing access to treatment services, but also by lowering the financial effect of their addictions. This could potentially very positively affect the homeless and poverty rates. Prices would drop so far that it would probably be feasible to include a relatively hefty (by percentage) tax on it to increase funding for schools, treatment centers, homeless facilities, etc. Abstinence only drug policy is ineffective and antithetical to both a safe society and human liberty. The first thing humanity did after settling in societies is brew alcohol. Drug use is a part of human nature. We should follow the harm reduction model fully, and legalize all drugs for adult recreational use. Perhaps have mandatory education before one is licensed to purchase a class of drugs. Ideally again the state would be in charge of production and distribution, preventing economic incentives to take advantage of users, and allowing for prices to plummet which would end drug related property crime. This would starve criminal organizations, both foreign and domestic, of funding and end gang violence both here and abroad. This would also end the overdose epidemic as it is fueled by fentanyl, and alone fentanyl is not a euphoric drug. It is one of the least euphoric opiates while being one of the most lethal. Many users die trying to attain their normal levels of euphoria not knowing they were sold fent and die as a result. Drug use itself is rarely physically harmful often it is effects of prohibition that increase the harm that drugs can do. IE Desoxyn doesn't have the same side effects as street meth. Further, some drugs, especially the psychedelics and cannabis are almost wholly safe and great tools for personal development and growth. The War On Drugs has failed. We should have Safe-Use sites in every neighborhood, providing harm reduction nationwide. Nationwide needle exchange programs to stem transmitted diseases. Have government subsidized testing kits available until the market is regulated. Looking at it from a fundamental point of view, I as an American, don't believe the state should be able to make the decision of what I can and cannot put in my body for me, I believe as an adult I should be able to make that decision for myself, and consider that a component of the pursuit of happiness and a base expression of liberty. Guns also can be used for pleasure and also to harm people, yet they are legal for adults, as they should be, so why not drugs?

It happened in Hartford CT Im in Massachusetts. I can recall every little detail of that encounter yet I can't remember what I did yesterday it's amazing how the brain does stuff like that. I got lucky that I trained myself in self defense but the permenant damage unfortunately changed my life. I can't dive or fly I even have trouble in the mountains with elevation and I'm a outdoorsman adventurer just thinking about all the details I could lay it out in precision detail that's how my brain retained it.
