This protest song is 57 years old, it was recorded in 1967 and nothing, absolutely nothing has changed since then. Czeslaw Niemen is an icon of Polish popular music and he is no longer with us in this world, as he has been dead for 20 years, having died in 2004. His artistic nickname Niemen comes from the name of the river Niemen, which flows in Belarus. If you open a google map, you can see where it is, and these lands once belonged to Poland, and Niemen was born there. He had a great chance to make a career in the U.S., at a time when Poland was behind the Iron Curtain and there was communism in Poland. He had a Western agent, but Niemen refused to agree to the commercialization of his work and the idea fell through.

Odrzucił z prostego powodu, śpiewając w USA musiałby dramatycznie ograniczyć własną twórczość, a Czesława pasjonowały głównie coraz to nowe wyzwania kreatywne.

Czesław Niemen himself, as a person, was as sincere, righteous, sensitive and intense as he is in this song, so it comes across to everyone as a sincere message from the depths of his soul, not just a "perfectly executed song." He treated the creation of all his music very rigorously, never tried to make "hits" for the charts, which is why he was considered a "no picnic guy" by the music industry, because money was not a "factor" to may drive him whatsoever. This is probably why his cooperation with Western European producers in " conquering the market" did not work out best as to be a "product" concocted by "image guys" and "smart promoters" made him someone else never seemed like the best idea to him. Edit: BTW, Czesław Niemen was invited in the '70s by "Blood , Sweat & Tears" to rehearsals, yet he overslept for a plane departure because of grabbing some drinks the previous day. This perhaps was displaying how he "damn well cared" about his career as a "music star."
@sagittario5405
@sagittario5405 Ай бұрын
Almost all true, but not entirely. I knew Niemen since 1968. In fact, privately he was a very warm and kind, modest man. But he didn't oversleep the meeting with Blood Sweet and Tears because of drinks, because Niemen NEVER drank, he was a complete abstainer, just like he didn't do drugs. He rightly stated that a career in the USA was in conflict with creating his own music. In the US it would only have gigs, gigs, gigs and exploitation by managers 365 days a year. And he was more interested in finding something new than singing the same thing over and over again. He would never have created such brilliant compositions as Cztery ściany świata (see Live Sopot 1974) or Com uczyniķ SBB and dozens of other compositions. But from the repertoire of Blood Sweet and Tears he recorded brilliantly Spinning wheel in Italian (24 ore spese bene con amore). As for drinking, from 1968 until the artist's death I never once saw him even drinking a beer, I always had a glass of wine, he never. That's true.

To prawda.

Beautiful song to the movie "Peasants" (pl title "Chłopi"), which is the Polish candidate for an Oscar in the Best Foreign Film category. The song called "Koniec Lata" (eng. "End of Summer") is the most contemporary piece in the film, but like the entire soundtrack it was recorded using mainly vintage and acoustic instruments. The clip presents raw footage, which was then hand-painted by more than 100 painters from 4 countries over almost 3 years. => 🌀L.U.C. & RB Film Orchestra feat. Kwiat Jabłoni, Bela Komoszyńska - Koniec Lata - Chłopi/The Peasants 🌀 In addition, the first English-language song for the film has already been written - Katie Melua recorded the final track, entitled 'End of Summer', with Geoff Foster. So we are now waiting for this version of the song to come out. Fragments from the film can be seen in the video for the song: L.U.C. & RB Film Orchestra ft. Kayah, Dagadana, Laboratorium Pieśni, Tęgie Chłopy - Jesień - Tańcuj Lyrics of the song "L.U.C. & RB Film Orchestra feat. Kwiat Jabłoni, Bela Komoszyńska - Koniec Lata - Chłopi/The Peasants" When it blows here again When the cold wind blows again I'll hang on to the white clouds And fly, fly far away Above the tiny pond Above the tiny quiet ravine A doe's eyes, a wolf's spirit A human's heart - a curse or a blessing I'm now flying over the forests I'm flying over every fence Above the acres, above the forests Above the stars, far away from here The echo of people's spiteful words Like a distant, like a distant background Say whatever you want to say Your voice won't reach me anymore The warm wind will return here And it'll carry me away like a feather I'll hang on to the white clouds And fly away, farewell I'm flying now towards the mountains Towards the sea, towards my dreams Inside me a flame, a wolf's spirit Many torn wounds and skins The warm wind will return here And it'll carry me away like a feather I'll hang on to the white clouds And fly away, farewell I'm flying now towards the mountains Towards the sea, towards my dreams Inside me a flame, a wolf's spirit Many torn wounds and skins From the sky a view of the wide A view of the whole wide world The fields like those paper cutouts The fields like a little paper flower Hey, unknown lands Hidden markets of the merry towns My wounds like this spring's dawn Are healed by the warm sun rays The warm wind will return here And it'll carry me away like a feather I'll hang on to the white clouds And fly away, farewell I'm flying now towards the mountains Towards the sea, towards my dreams Inside me a flame, a wolf's spirit Many torn wounds and skins Tekst pochodzi z www.tekstowo.pl/piosenka,l_u_c___rb_film_orchestra,koniec_lata__feat__kwiat_jabloni__bela_komoszynska__1.html

The funny thing is that his real name is Czesław Wydrzycki (Tsheslav Vydzhytski). His nickname Niemen (pronounce the first N like english word "news") is the name of a river in Lithuania (lit.: Nemunas), where he came from. The style of this song is a mixture of blues and the style of Orthodox church songs.

Niemen is too optimistic in his work. His work is a commendable wish, unfortunately unfulfillable considering the level of pathology of the human species. Let the firing of flares and firecrackers in the middle of the Tatra National Park during New Year's Eve serve as a symbol.
