Polishing is a big help when removing small burr marks left over from the casting process. A smooth surface is a surface with less contact and can lead to less friction.

Great break down. I see a noticeable improvement when polishing piston rails and cylinders. For barrels I end up using EDGI steel barrels since nothing can beat them.

Lambda 6.01 steal barrels have been very good to me in my builds as well.

Yup I love everything to be shiny. The sight of polished siegetec gears in a polished cnc gearbox is so sexy... But I think it's more removing resistance to lessen wear, rather than a real 'performance' upgrade. Anything that moves or makes friction in the gearbox should be filed/polished and properly lubricated for best reliability

I appreciate the detailed breakdowns, I am new to Live Airsoft, and finally have the bandwidth. I'm building a fleet of G&G SR M4's, 1's build to order and others for loaning. Outside basic, Inside complete overhaul and tuning. My goal is great all around functionality. and DFW is booming for the sport, lots of room.

Hey Nick. That's great to know. I may have a job opportunity coming up just north of the DFW area.

I polish these parts for these reason! Most odd one, the copper plates on selector plates. When using them with titans, I have found that a shinier surface helps with reflecting the light (duhh) but this makes selector calibration more accurate. Piston tracks for a smoother feeling gearbox and almost negligibly lower amp draw Tappet tracks if necessary in order allow the Tappet plate to slide in a manner which is most buttery 🧐🎩 Bushings and axels for the reasons you stated Flat surfaces such as the top of bevel gears if it so happens to not require shims. In this case since the surface of the gear will rub on the bearing or bushing, I find it necessary to make that surface as smooth as possible to reduce wear, noise and amp draw. Cylinder if it appears that said cylinder is not offering air seal correctly. I have found that for Lonex/ ASG cylinders polishing reduces air seal. I also believe that a non polished finish inside a cylinder helps to retain the silicone oil grease. However, I have seen great results with polished cylinders. Using a drill press with polishing wheel also speeds up the polishing process drastically in comparison to a dremel.

What about the cilinder head nozzle since its so try and error when you try to get a perfect Seal in nozzle to cilinder head I find the polished cilinder head nozzle to have a better seal
@opairsoft81002 жыл бұрын
That’s a horrible idea, you are literally removing material and creating a bigger gap/play for the nozzle.
@pedrovalente25982 жыл бұрын
So why is it creating a better seal???
@opairsoft81002 жыл бұрын
@@pedrovalente2598 it’s more likely that it’s just different nozzle alignment since basically zero air escapes through the rear of a nozzle
@pedrovalente25982 жыл бұрын
@@opairsoft8100 same nozzle same cilinder head For reference Maxx nozzle and 8year old JG cilinder head that was the case where the Seal was brought from death 😆

Polishing your cylinder would have negative effect! the O-ring of the piston head wil "clean" all the lubricant that it can carry and in short time it will start to wear out the O-ring of the piston head. Just the same as the engine cylinder honing :)

Question, I purchased an aftermarket stainless steel barrel with an r hop patch that is superglued in place. Would you recommend removing the patch to polish the inner barrel or polish with the patch still glued in place?
@MrMrjwongy2 жыл бұрын
Just polish everything apart from where the patch it. so like, the other 95% of your barrel
@drewmurray64802 жыл бұрын
Certain parts definitely gain from polishing 100%
