HONDA CB125F Engine Crank Cases #4 Open up, lift out crank and gears. Cleaning out broken piston.

Finally get to open up the crankcases on this Honda CB125F and find out if the engine is 'saveable'. And thankfully all, yes ALL the bearings and shafts were in perfect condition. No discernible play anywhere. Amazing :-)
Remember this engine was run dry of OIL! A great testament to Honda's solid engineering and use of quality materials.
Once the cases were stripped of parts, it was time to clean. Flushing and flushing and blowing and even more blowing. Over and over again to make sure that every single bearing and oilway was 100% clean.
Some of the oil ways are tiny, even the smallest thing will restrict oil flow and lead to the engine meeting an early demise.

I have owned a cb125f since 2016. It is very reliable and after 15000 miles is still going and looking like new. I also own a Royal Enfield Himalayan. There are lots of videos on the Enfield. Almost nothing this involved for the Honda. So for me, who likes to service and look after my bikes, this series of videos are brilliant. I'm subscribed and I'm looking forward to seeing the piston and bore repairs. I would like you to show us the bike when it's complete with all the mods and repairs you have done. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks! Yes, odd there isn't more vids on them since I believe they sold loads. I can only conclude that they are running faultlessly, and it's only the odd ridiculously abused ones who make it on here :-) Sorry for the delay, I tend to make videos in between projects and it's been really busy lately :-) Definitely will finish the series and reveal the bike!

@@handycrowd I think most of these bikes are owned by young kids who don't want to work on them. So they get neglected. Shame as they are capable of so much.

Totally! I think buying a used 125 is just about the hardest vehicle to buy, you just never know how it's been ridden (but fairly safe to assume hard!) At least I bought mine for peanuts because I knew it had been abused. Testimony to Honda though, I could not believe how little damage there was after running out of oil, not to mention how long it must have been running with waaaay too little oil... @@markrobertson5305

Oops! I told you I was gettin' old, I'm repeating myself here re locating the bolts... Still, they say it takes 7 times for something to be a permanent part of your memory, so I'll get you half way there lol!

I must say, it'd be funny if you got to the end of one of these jobs then a really cheap used motor suddenly came up on ebay!

Lol yes! I did look for one for a while, but back then folks were asking kind of silly money for them, 6, 7 and even £800 or more for a used engine... This made the bits from David Silvers look like a good deal...
