In an uproarious sessions of Prime Minister's Questions, Keir Starmer quizzes Boris Johnson over Northern Powerhouse Rail and standards in public life, as the government is increasingly engulfed in a corruption scandal.
However, Speaker Lindsay Hoyle was involved more in the session than he would've liked, repeatedly rebuking Johnson for questioning Starmer. At one point Hoyle is forced to order Johnson to his seat, stating "You may be the prime minister, but in here, I'm in charge."

It's a Catch-22 situation. Boris can't be thrown out of Parliament because it's PM's Questions and it would be seen as a way of denying the public the right to hold the PM to account. But the speaker cannot name the PM because that requires a vote in the same way as legislation. I cannot imagine that the Conservatives would ever vote to name the Prime Minister and get him thrown out. But again, if that were to happen then see previous point about denying the public. So whilst he can't do it forever, Boris knows when to push buttons and how far he can push them. It's a rather annoying trait of his.

I rather enjoyed the part where Johnson effectively signalled that he holds Jacob Rees-Mogg responsible for the Paterson debacle, adding to Mogg's discomfiture where Starmer, just a minute before, had mistakenly asserted that Mogg had apologised for his conduct over the Paterson affair, which Mogg had to murmur was not true. An exquisite example of a pincer movement from the PM and the Leader of The Opposition. Mogg must be absolutely seething. I expect he was on the phone, sobbing to Nanny immediately afterwards.
