We often hear talk on the left about critical thinking or critical theory. We will go back to the origin of these expressions by going back to the Frankfurt school and two of their most eminent representatives: Adorno and Horkheimer. We will talk about critical theory and traditional theory, dialectics of reason, cultural industry and anti-Semitism. We will end with Habermas and Axel Honneth to introduce a future episode on the notion of recognition.
