JBL just did it, and CerwinVega! Is coming out with a new one this year. I think there is a market for the old school large woofer floor stander if done right. One of the big problems is the cost of shipping and storage of such a large cabinet.

The ring radiator tweeter is very interesting. As much as I like bass and midrange - it very often comes down to the tweeter. This type of design gives a bit more area to move air with a bit less effort - but still maintains wider dispersion up higher, because it acts close to a point source. The woofer "turbine" ribs are functional, apparently; and the port does also appear to have a sophisticated tuning design - it's not just a flared tube.
@scottlowell493
@scottlowell493 8 ай бұрын
The ring radiator also pushes breakup modes well above 20khz. The turbine ribs are great engineering. Increases cone rigidity without adding mass.

I'm a life long Polk fan, I bought a set of SDA CRS speakers in 1985. That was 36 years ago, since then I've bought the 2 sets of the T-15's, a set if T-50's, a T-30 center channel, a set of S15's, and a PSW-10 subwoofer. The SDA CRS speakers still sound like I bought them yesterday although I did just replace the electrolytic capacitors but I'm not sure I can tell the difference. As much as I love them I can't help feeling like I would have loved a house full of Klipsch speakers, just as much. I have to say that a set of speakers that no only last but still are clear, and will rock the neighborhood that are 36 years old is an accomplishment that many speaker makers would envy.

Awesome review! These look to be an excellent speaker. While I agree that Signature and Rti speakers have faults, the TSI series seems to be very strong in performance. Most likely why the entire TSI line is being sold again on Amazon and Crutchfield, and other stores. Now that the Reserve line is out, it offers a good route for upgrading. I appreciated your review of the TSI100 speakers. I have them now and am very impressed with these inexpensive speakers. I love their imaging where the speakers just disappear and even their punchy midbass and smooth treble. I also love their more neutral character opposed to the S and Rti series. Glad that Polk is offering another high performance speaker line that is within reach of most people. The Legend and LSIm series were out of 'reasonable' reach of many.

@@plaubelmakina8916 I got a pair at $450, the price kept dropping on Adorama. They’re okay speakers - good for that price, they don’t really compete with my more expensive speakers. Bought the Polk S20s after watching your review on them. You are spot on. Those things will punch you in the chest, make you feel them, and blow you away in a very good way when you push them a bit. My analogy is the S20s are like an old school American muscle car. Like a '69 Pontiac GTO. You can feel the rumble. Curious as to what volume you test speakers at? A little bit of low, medium, and see how they respond when you push them, maybe?
