There are a variety of different ways you can use Lisa Pavelka foils with polymer clay and a little texture. You can use a variety of textural tools from texture mats to stamps or many found objects. Get creative and see what you can come up with.

soooooo many ways to use foil. There are some I haven't shared because they are shown in various paid tutorials of mine so probably not fair to those who have purchased. Keep playing and I'm sure you'll discover more of your own. x

Debbie dear, I always get excited when I see that you’ve posted a new video. As you know, I adore both your gorgeous work and your fabulous tutorials! I’m especially excited about your use of lace as a texture with foils. I’ve got a couple of remnants of truly lovely antique lace that I have molded with 2-part silicone putty to use with metal clay and polymer clay, but now I know how wonderfully they might work to create a foil design veneer on polymer clay. You rock, my friend!

Hey Margaret, I love your enthusiasm, how beautiful of you honey. Ohhhh I hope you take very good care of that antique lace - it's really hard to find lace these days like they used to make. There is so much you can do with lace and polymer clay as well (as I'm sure you know) so it sounds like you're going to have lots of fun that's for sure. Thanks so much for your lovely comment.

Another excellent video, thank you!! Such great & beautiful ideas. And I looooove that you used lace as the texture. I'm absolutely obsessed with lace & have lots & lots of different types, but for some strange & irritating reason I almost never think to use it on my clay. I definitely wouldn't have thought to do so with foils as you have here, but I absolutely love it & am going to try it tonight! I'm wondering, have you tried using the nail transfer foils yet on clay? I have a whole big bunch of those & have been really struggling with trying to get them to adhere to my clay. And trust me, i burnish until my arms are ready to fall off, nothing seems to be working with some of these nail foils! I have a feeling though that you will be the one to figure it out. Thank you again Debbie!

Hey Jasmine, unfortunately I can't offer any suggestions on how to get those stubborn nail foils to burnish to polymer clay. Most of the ones I have stick in a matter of seconds so you obviously have something quite different to what I have. I've just posted a couple of other videos on how to use problematic foils. Perhaps one of these processes might work with your nail foils. Good thing to have lots of lace - it's so incredibly versatile in the studio, especially when using with polymer clay. I have lots of other free tutorials on using lace with polymer clay as well. Thanks Jasmine. chat with you again soon.

One more question - if I use a fondant smoother to burnish the foil onto the clay (and thanks so much for showing that option!), can I also use the baking parchment paper to help it glide over the foil? Thanks so much! ❤️

Absolutely Margaret. I use baking paper ontop of almost everything. That way my grubby fingers aren't ruining my beautiful work.

Could you tell me what type of foil you are using please, I love those colours 💞 Thank you for sharing with us, and I’ve never heard of those pastels before, Where can I but them too, in Australia I hope 🙏🏼💞

Hi Jojo, thanks for getting in touch, really nice to hear from you. I'm using Lisa Pavelka foils. Other foils work but I would highly recommend testing prior to using on any special pieces because they can be temperamental (ie difficult to transfer, fading during curing etc). I'm using Pan Pastels and yes, they are available in Australia, I'm not sure where to be honest (mine came from overseas) but just google and you'll find them. Thanks again Jojo. x

Hi Leona, this is a fondant smoother and you should be able to find them quite easily in the cake decorating section any store which sells these products. Hope you manage to find one.
