Polymer Clay Cane: Translucent Stroppel Cane Tutorial

In this leftover polymer clay tutorial I'll show you what to do with the scraps from the translucent leaf cane I taught a few days ago. This technique can be used with colored clay as well, but I've always loved how it looks in translucent, black and white.

Hi - love this tutorial! The end result is perfect for a monotone project. Question...can you do this technique with cut up chunks of clay if you don't have leftover canes to work with? Wondered if you have tried that when you don't have old pieces of canes lying around. Thanks!

I'm a new subbie and am totally addicted to your tuts! I've made myself tons of beaded jewelry but the clasps and wires always tarnish and turn to a gross color. I was wondering if you have this problem and if you have any suggestions on how to keep it from tarnishing? I don't buy cheap stuff but I also don't buy 14k gold.

I typically stay away from gold findings due to this problem. I find that stainless steal, antiqued silver, gunmetal, antique brass and antique copper findings work best as they don't tend to tarnish and are extremely expensive.

If you use Renaissance wax, the product won’t tarnish.

Quite a few terms used in Polymer Clay come from lamp working and pottery.
