In this tutorial I'll show a fun earring project using a mica shift and liquid clay. It's striking and can be done in any colors you want. This one though was based on a fire poem I wrote a while back.
Evening Fire Light
Fingers of scarlet flame touch the night,
The stars dancing in the fire's light.
Burning crimson embers gleam and glow,
As an evening wind begins to blow.
Whipping up the forks of shimmering fire,
Tossing the crackling flames ever higher.
Sparks of gold soar against the ebony sky,
as the amber coals start to flicker and die.
Fading from blazing red to bone white,
As they give way to the blackened night.

This mica shift really reminds me of flames! It would be easy to add crystals or rhinestones in the center for bling, too.

Stunning, Samantha! Thanks for another inspiring tutorial. I can definitely see how switching up the colors and the texture for the shift would give it a different feel, but the flame is beautiful!

Thanks so much for the tutorial! I would have used the back polymer clay (not liquid) black to fill the center and once resined I think it would look similar?
@JessamaTutorials
@JessamaTutorials 4 жыл бұрын
Yes it would look similar but you would need to make sure you do a good sand so that the black is level with the mica.

Another lovely tutorial :) Sam, you always used to press clay down onto texture sheets with your fingers, after spraying the clay with water. Now you use a sponge to press the clay down... what is the advantage in doing that?
@JessamaTutorials
@JessamaTutorials 4 жыл бұрын
It just means I don't have to use as much water or corn starch to stop the clay from sticking to my fingers. The results are the same.

Can you mix black acrylic paint to white liquid clay for center of earrings. They are so beautiful.
@cherryshrimp4120

I have seen this being done before - the key was to add just a little paint at at time. Hope this helps.
@JessamaTutorials
@JessamaTutorials 4 жыл бұрын
I don't like to mix paint with liquid clay. It tends to bubble. You could try black pastel or alcohol ink. It would probably be better.

Another spectacular project. You are a genius! I like the poem too. A personal question: do you wear this kind of jewelry yourself? My image of you is that you create all these spectacular pieces, but are conservative in your personal taste. Also, I love the dog barking in the background.
@JessamaTutorials
@JessamaTutorials 4 жыл бұрын
Thank you. I wear some of my pieces, but I try to make pieces that appeal to different tastes as well.

😂 There are lots of people are happy to spend the extra money on handmade items, especially in today's "throwaway" market where everything is cheaply made by underpaid third-world labor. (And some of us crafters don't even try to sell our pieces, we are happy just to create as a form of self-expression.)
