Polymer Clay Setting for a Transparent Stone

In this video you will see how I set a transparent stone in a decorative polymer clay bezel. Techniques used include using an extruder, leaf molds and dry brushing for an antiqued effect.
Supplies needed are:
- A transparent stone
- an extruder with the smallest hexagon disc, the smallest round holed disc and the smallest slit disc
- leaf molds
- a toothbrush for texturing
- black polymer clay
- gold and dark copper polymer clay
- liquid polymer clay or Bake 'N Bond
- an Exacto knife
- a ball tool
- gold acrylic paint

Marvelous tutorial! I appreciate all the detail information you give. And how you use the little accents (tiny balls of clay, very thin twisted ropes) to give even more texture and interest to the piece.

Lovely. I find that using polymer for such settings highlights what I like the least about polymer. It is clunky if it is made thick enough to be really strong. It's a damned if you do and a damned if you don't. Trying to find a balance doesn't seem to be possible. When you look at metal bezels, because metal is so strong, it set against the stone and doesn't distract from the stone. The same can not be said for polymer. That being said, you did a beautiful job with the product we work with.

Hi just wondering how I would go about doing this with air dry clay as I have crystals that can't be baked. Would love some feedback about this, thank you!
