Make your own super inexpensive sanding pads using your favorite sanding abrasive, in any grit and in any size. These pads make sanding flat and curved pieces easier, make the sand paper work longer and are way cheaper than the manufactured sanding pads on the market. Plus they are easy to make with minimal supplies.

I can't thank you enough for this video! I watched it today, and immediately went to my Halloween costume making supplies, grabbed some scrap foam pieces, and made some sanding blocks. What a life saver. I have all kinds of hand issues and this has helped a ton already. Thank you!!! ❤️

Cell phone poppit holder glued to the back with food grade RV silicone which is waterproof would help holding it. Definitely going to try this so, thank you for sharing.

Oh gosh, I must have been distracted when I watched this before... I'm so glad I decided to rewatch before making these! I had completely missed several things, including making pads for the JoolTool! :o Thanks so much for this!

Hi Cindy...just a note. I've been using the micro pads for a long time on my fingernails (and polymer clay). I've been tossing them once they are too worn, but watching your video, I decided to try using the worn pads as a base for new sand papers! I think I'll give it a try - would be a nice recycle if it works. I'll let you know.

Hey I love your videos and had some ideas! You could do a video on your acrylic organizer to the left of your chalk board easel. And could you do a video on Americana duraclear gloss and matte varnish and tell me if it works good

Great video! Thank you! How well does the foam hold up when using on the Jool Tool? Also does the thinner foam sheet work too for Jool Tool? I was thinking of tryin to cut on Shiloutte die cut machine.

Hello ! Your work is fantastic ! Why don't you sand with water to avoid inhaling fine particles in the air. Would the result be less interesting ? (but better for the health) When you bake your creations, what about ventilating ? Can we use the oven after that for baking food ? All those questions because we must take care of our health... Thank you for your answer !

Thank you for the idea of making our own sanding blocks. Definitely going to try this cuz I hate sanding. Also I saw a tutorial and the lady used some type of marker to paint the edges of her pendant before she baked it. Do you know of any product like that we can use on unbaked clay to clean up the edges color wise?
@PolymerClayTutor
@PolymerClayTutor 4 жыл бұрын
A lot of the Acrylic Paint Pens can be used on raw clay and then baked. But I prefer to be able to sand the edges cleanly before adding any color along the edge. It gives it a cleaner more professional look. You can do a search on my channel for a few of the different pens I have tested on polymer clay.

Hey, that's a great tip, Cindy! I was thinking that I can even just add sand paper to my micromesh pads when they wear out. :o)

I think a cricut would be a great way to cut it your jewel tool sponges. Just make a full page of sand paper and foam backed with the tape and then let cricut to cut it out for and. Especially if you've got the cricut maker.
@PolymerClayTutor
@PolymerClayTutor 5 жыл бұрын
That sounds like an interesting idea! How would the sandpaper effect the cutting wheel? Would it dull it at all? How thick will a Cricut Maker cut? These pads are about a 1/4 inch thick. I want a Cricut Maker... just haven't gotten one yet.

Did you try putting tape on a full sheet of foam and attach the paper then cut it out? If so was it harder to cut? I'm not just cheap but always looking for easy. This is a really great idea one I will definitely use! Thank you!
@PolymerClayTutor
@PolymerClayTutor 7 жыл бұрын
You could do that but then you have to get a full sheet of foam for every grit of paper.

So the tape is waterproof? I am from Germany and have no idea where I could buy the foam or how it is called in German :(
@PolymerClayTutor
@PolymerClayTutor 4 жыл бұрын
Yes the tape is waterproof and another name for this foam is EVA Foam. Perhaps that will be easier to translate into German? Good luck!

Are their alternatives to glaze(hair spray) like unconventional things to sand with
@PolymerClayTutor
@PolymerClayTutor 4 жыл бұрын
Yeah you can sand with things like nail files and such but it may be difficult to get the range of grits you need to get a nice polish. I would only use a nail file if I was cleaning up the edges of a pendant or something... not for sanding a pendant or some earrings.

I know this is off topic but can I ask a question: Can I gently boil water inside a saucepan on the stovetop and then place my charm on a metal plate which will go on top of the pan? Will the clay cure perfectly fine this way? I am thinking of keeping the clay on the water heat for about 30-40 minutes? Or should I leave it for longer?.. I will really appreciate it if you reply back.
@PolymerClayTutor
@PolymerClayTutor 7 жыл бұрын
Hi meme, unfortunately that will not cure your piece properly. Water boils at 212F or 100C which is much lower than the cure temp for polymer clay which ranges from 265F - 325F (130C - 160C). If you try to cure your clay with boiling water it will seem fine but will be very undercured.

PolymerClayTutor i understand. but i just want to quickly ask another question wouldnt baking the clay at lower temperature for longer is great for avoiding it from getting burnt?? if yes then i can keep the clay on water heat for longer then 60 minites ( less heat but more time)??

I think I missed the glue option. Do you just paint some glue on where the tape went?

The tape I used was double sided, so I didn't need any glue.

Are you able to use glue instead of tape? Sorry, that’s what I was curious about :)
@PolymerClayTutor
@PolymerClayTutor 4 жыл бұрын
@@shaunas4947 You could but the glue would need to be waterproof or it will come apart when you wet sand.
