They all originated in Dallas Texas, even Clay(drummer) who is the bands second drummer. Not a supergroup by definition but have just evolved together into a supergroup. They're fricken incredible. I'm from Dallas as well and have grown with this band watching them to what they are now. Has been an incredible journey

people would call polyphia math rock but i feel they do their ,own things some more great songs are saucy, 40oz, aviator ,the worst and od from the ones i can think of, would love to see you react to them

Genre-wise Polyphia's pretty hard to pin down since they borrow so many different motifs from so many different genres, like trap, metal, pop, hip hop and so on. I mean, in this song during the drum break there's a moment where Clay incorporates some reggaeton. I'd say they're linked to happy sounding math rock, like CHON, but they also get a little more progressive like Plini. Can't say any known genre name would really cover them!

Watch more of their stuff. Tim henson is technically the lead but scottie LePage is damn good too. Tim hensons channel is awesome. Polyphias channel also has lots of play throughs. Deep dive worthy

Man, thank you for actually reacting and giving a honest review! So many people reacting to GOAT and all they have to say is “that's cool, I enjoyed it”. Have you heard of sleep token? May be worth giving sleep token jaws a crack for some more progressive music for the thinking man

You could play this just do what I did and sacrafice an entire summer learning it and it will sound some what decenct

So many people always react to goat as their first polyphia song and I honestly feel like this is a bad song to introduce someone to polyphia as it’s pretty much their “flex track” to just show off. Many of their other songs are much easier to listen to and still have some insane musicianship. Some songs I’d recommend are Nasty, Bad, Saucy, 40oz, OD, The Worst, Aviator, So Strange, or Goose and that’s just to name a few. Loved the reaction tho and hope to see some more polyphia in the future :).

I know Tim Henson and Scott LePage, the guitarrists, from collaboration with BabyMetal in _"Brand New Day"_ one of the song that belongs to their 3rd album featuring many artists guests and more mature sound in general, I recommend you to watch and hear that song after you clear a good amount of 1st and 2nd album songs first, to get to know where they come from and what thay used to do before appreciating the changes after growing up. When I heard about them I searched for their music and this song comes out, as far as I know is called math-rock, a subgenre created with stunning precision on composition, hard techniques, wild changes on time signatures and really high level of execution, "Rondo Of Nightmare" got something of math-rock for although in that case since is metal the subgenre is called math-core. Anyway this band caught up the attention of KobaMetal (BabyMetal producer and creator) and he invited them to play the solo part for that song. Imagine receiving an email from him to collaborate with BabyMetal? Dope right? Thanks for sharing this, I'm not a Polyphia expert, I'm just sharing what I found when searching for them back then.
